Minnesota Poll: Obama, McCain are dead even in state

Minnesota has become a battleground in a presidential campaign that has dramatically tightened nationwide.
A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows that the race is now a dead heat between Barack Obama and John McCain, each supported by 45 percent of likely voters in the state.
The new poll likely will stoke both sides' efforts during the final 51 days until the election, triggering a barrage of advertising, grass-roots politicking and, potentially, stepped-up visits by the candidates.
The poll found that McCain has made gains across the board since a May Minnesota Poll that showed him trailing by 13 points. He has picked up considerable support among men and to a lesser degree among women. He also has boosted his standing with whites, young voters and all levels of household income and education.

Is it possible the good people of Minnesota saw the violence and damage by Obama supporters, code pink and wacko liberals to their state during the RNC convention and decided they didn’t want those people running washington?

I also wonder whether the same type of destruction in Colorado hurt Obama.
That state is usually pretty red.. and Red State folks don’t take to kindly to anti-war protesters destroying their city.
Perhaps, but it does mean that the Democrats will have to spend more money in MN than they planned. And more money spent in MN means less spent in NC or VA.
Better we see this from Gallup, Ras or Zogby before celebrating.
Right, there is no reason to celebrate. But these results are very surprising.
I always figured if the American public got to see the “true” democratic party, the majority would be highly turned off.
I personally think that is starting to happen and if McCain wins by a significant margin, I may be right in that analysis.
If we take both of them, it's over, if it wasn't already.
i find this all very hopeful... on the other hand, i find it irritating... every election cycle, i get my hopes up that one of these blue states is going to turn red... it always seems like that according to the polls... then election day comes and it doesn't happen... not even close... is it really tied? should McCain spend resources there? or will it be wasted money and time? i want the polls to show him up over the margin of error in these "purple" states... then i'll be hopeful...
sorry i'm being negative... i hate negative attitudes and try not to be that way...
There are a lot of young families in CO who have moved in from Calif.
I caution us not to fall into the foolish trap that the dems fell in around the Messiah’s European diaster. We should act as though we need to pick up must wins (which is true). Over confidence this year has never worked well for anyone.

Might?? McCain is up a minimum of 4% in Minnesota from the Bradley effect alone. There is no good news for Obama in ANY poll lately, his moose is cooked.

Not even close???? Bush lost WI in 2004 by 11,384 votes out of almost 3,000,000 cast. The PA margin was about the same as OH in 2004.
I really don’t think we’re being overconfident. I’m not staying home on election day, I think very few here are going to depend on our neighbors to vote for us. But it looks like our neighbors are fired up too this year.
Republicans winning the womens vote throws the whole DEM strategy into utter chaos (as we’re seeing) because they have ZERO SHOT at winning the male vote.
2008, The Palin Landslide. The whole election swung on the VP picks, it’s like we got to choose BOTH VP candidates, Biden? Joe Biden??? (chuckles)
That’s because blue-states are corrupt and the Rats use their power once they have it to break all the rules. Kerry won Wisconsin by 12000 votes out of 3 million in 2004. How many people drove over from St. Paul and Minneapolis to vote there, how many Chicago residents took a short drive up? The midwest is corrupted by the Rats.
