Obama camp confirms troop pullout delay plan

The Obama campaign issued an angry denial to a report yesterday that the Democratic presidential candidate privately urged Iraqi leaders to delay U.S. troop withdrawals, but the statement essentially confirmed the story.

Responding to a column by Iranian-born analyst Amir Taheri in the New York Post, Obama spokeswoman Wendy Morigi insisted Obama "has never urged a delay in negotiations, nor has he urged a delay in immediately beginning a responsible drawdown of our combat brigades."

But in the same statement, Morigi said Obama had told the Iraqis they should not rush through a "Strategic Framework Agreement" governing the future of U.S. troops until after President Bush leaves office, the Associated Press reported.

In his column, Taheri writes that he interviewed Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, who confirmed Obama met with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad to urge a delay in the withdrawal of American forces.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the U.S. elections and the formation of a new administration," Zebari reportedly said.

Obama crossed the line in Iraq and attempted to undermine U.S. foreign policy while acting as a U.S. Senator without State Department credentials. He should be impeached immediately, but we know that will never happen.

We need Palin. She fired Monegan for bypassing the official channels and pursuing his own agenda.

Obama is doing the same thing.

McCane should kick his a** on this. This is despicable behavior...using US troops as political pawns.

Unbelievable. His spokesperson, Wendy Morigi, angrily denies the report in the same breath as she admits to it!

Obama had told the Iraqis they should not rush through a "Strategic Framework Agreement" governing the future of U.S. troops until after President Bush leaves office, the Associated Press reported.

What "is" their meaning of "defer"?!! more FReeper commentary on this here.

Can anyone say LOGAN ACT?????

I think this totally crosses the line. Barry belongs in the Big House, not the White House.

Odds are 99 to 1 that he won't be, but we can still hope and pray for a miracle.

Are we really surprise? This is the same Obama that publically blasted NAFTA to appeal to some Midwest voters who favor protectionism. But when confronted behind closed doors by Georges Rioux, consul general for the Canadian government, the Obama camp admitted that Barry’s NAFTA-bashing “should be viewed as more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans.” Good grief. If Obama is willing to throw his pastor/mentor under the bus after 20 years for political gain, I can assure you he’d do the same to our troops for presidential expediency.

“”He should be impeached immediately, but we know that will never happen.””

There is no difference between the accustory statement and the BHO Camp’s feeble rebuttal. His campaign spokesperson had to rephrase the denial in a redundant fashion because of the likihood of the fact that this conversation was recorded or they would have eagerly issued a flat-out denial. Since they suspect, the offer to postpone troop withdrawal and undermine the administration was recorded by the Iraqis, this dumb@ss community organizer is stuck.

Zero deserves to be hammered relentlessly on this throughout the campaign. It should be the topic of campaign fodder ads featuring his blatent violation of policy & the Logan Act. coupled with his avoidance of visiting the troops.

This one issue should send his David Ploufter’s campaign strategy into a wicked tailspin. There is no defending the dingo’s lame attempt to manipulate his personal PR at the detriment of the troops & our mission.

What other countries (in addition to Canada-trade and Kenya-Odinga) has he cut deals with? What has he promised the EU? or Chavez? or Putin? This guy is so dangerous and full of unlimited gaul.

What an egomaniacal bufoon! He’s Over, and his leftist pacifist moonbat idolators should start burning their metrosexual bras in shame and flock elsewhere. There needs to be a grassroots effort to bring formal charges against the traitor.

He should be impeached immediately, but we know that will never happen.

Any attempt at this date to disqualify Barack Obama would be perceived as political, and the resulting backlash would throw the election to his Democrat replacement who would in turn pardon him. That really does not seem like a good strategy.
