OBAMA OBJECTS BUT THE EVIDENCE SAYS I'M RIGHT....(NY Post Amir Taheri-OBAMA is lying !!!)
NY Post ^ | September 17, 2008 | AMIR TAHERI

Posted on 09/17/2008 4:10:11 AM PDT by IrishMike

IN Monday's Post, I discussed how Barack Obama, during his July trip, had asked Iraqi leaders not to finalize an agreement vital to the future of US forces in Iraq - and how the effect of such a delay would be to postpone the departure of the US from Iraq beyond the time Obama himself calls for.

The Obama campaign has objected. While its statement says my article was "filled with distortions," the rebuttal actually centers on a technical point: the differences between two Iraqi-US accords under negotiation - the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA, to set rules governing US military personnel in Iraq) and the Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA, to settle the legal basis for the US military presence in Iraq in the months and years ahead).

The Obama camp says I confused the two. It continues: "On the Status of Forces Agreement, Sen. Obama has always said he hoped that the US and Iraq would complete it - but if they did not, the option of extending the UN mandate should be considered.

"As to the Strategic Framework Agreement, Sen. Obama has consistently said that any security arrangements that outlast this administration should have the backing of the US Congress - especially given the fact that the Iraqi parliament will have the opportunity to vote on it."

If there is any confusion, it's in Obama's position - for the two agreements are interlinked: You can't have any US military presence under one agreement without having settled the other accord.

Note the last paragraph of the story for an insight/lesson on how the 0bots debate international relations:

“While I am encouraged by the senator’s evolution, I must also appeal to him to issue a “cease and desist” plea to the battalions of his sympathizers - who have been threatening me with death and worse in the days since my article appeared.”

That changes everything. It moves it beyond a charge that Teheri was making stuff up in yesterday’s column, and confirms the Zebari statements.

0 is in trouble. This is a huge game changer that could break the Nov 4 elections wide open for McCain-Palin.

Wait, I’m assuming the alphabets will actually report it.

Never mind.

The last sentence is a little unsettling:

——While I am encouraged by the senator’s evolution, I must also appeal to him to issue a “cease and desist” plea to the battalions of his sympathizers - who have been threatening me with death and worse in the days since my article appeared.——

It isn’t surprising though is it?

He talks a good game - a “new” kind of politics.
But what that really meant was bringing Chicago-style thuggery onto the national level.

Did anyone charge Obama’s stage at his convention?
No - of course not.

Look at all the freaks who have traveled to Alaska.

These people are whacked and need to be stopped.

Very impressive work! Too bad we’re talking about a Democrat, because this would be deep macaca if he were a Republican.

“And he makes no mention of his running mate Joe Biden’s pet project for carving Iraq into three separate states,” writes Taheri.

If only Sarah Palin had made that suggestion, it would be on everyone’s lips — as damning evidence of incompetence! But, it’s only the brilliant foreign policy expert Joe Biden.

Taheri sews it up well by noting the death threats he gets from Obama supporters.

War Zones on the Itinerary
New York Times, The (NY) - June 17, 2008
Author: JEFF ZELENY
It’s not just battleground states on the itinerary for the presidential candidates. Senator Barack Obama said Monday that he also intended to visit Iraq and Afghanistan before the November election.

One day after Senator John McCain met with Iraq’s foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari , Mr. Obama spoke to Mr. Zebari by telephone. Mr. Obama said he was “encouraged” by reductions in violence in Iraq, but added that the United States should withdraw troops at a pace of one to two brigades a month, with a goal of removing most combat troops in 16 months.

“We have no interest in permanent bases in Iraq,” Mr. Obama said.

Among the issues being discussed between Mr. Zebari and the presidential candidates is a long-term security accord between Iraq and the United States. While the Bush administration would like to see an agreement reached by midsummer, Mr. Obama said he opposed such a swift timetable.

“My concern is that the Bush administration, in a weakened state politically, ends up trying to rush an agreement that in some ways might be binding to the next administration,” Mr. Obama said, “whether it’s my administration or Senator McCain’s administration.”

Mr. Obama , who has not been to Iraq for more than two years, said last month that he would like to visit. After speaking to Mr. Zebari , he sounded more definitive, saying, “I told him that I look forward to seeing him in Baghdad.”

Mr. McCain has invited Mr. Obama to take a joint trip to Iraq, a gesture that Mr. Obama dismissed as a political stunt. Alex Conant, a Republican Party spokesman, said it had been nearly 900 days since Mr. Obama visited, in January 2006.

Mr. Obama did not say Monday when he would be going, but said it would be “before the election.”

Obama aide signals shift on Iraq policy
Washington Times, The (DC) - July 8, 2008
Author: Donald Lambro, THE WASHINGTON TIMES

EXCERPT

In a lengthy telephone call last month with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari , Mr. Obama appeared to send a signal that his plan was far less rigid than he earlier suggested. Mr. Zebari said the presumptive Democratic nominee “reassured” him that he would do nothing to jeopardize Iraq’s security gains. “He will not take any drastic decisions, or reckless actions,” he said.

After reading this guy’s updated posting, I sent a “heads up” note to Drudge. Other FReepers may want to do the same - including a link to the article http://www.nypost.com/seven/09172008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/obama_objects_129453.htm?page=0

One almost has to believe that the Obama campaign doesn’t realize that Google and Lexis/Nexis exist for folks to readily find old quotes, old articles, etc.

Are they
(a) dumb
(b) arrogant
(c) careless
(d) lazy
(e) all of the above

at the Obama Spin-Center?

“What we meant for the Senator to say is ...”

HA, the product of Obama and his team of 300 foreign policy advisors is a tissue of lies and an incoherent pretence at a policy on Iraq.

Taheri’s claims seem to be well substantiated and Team Obama’s furious assault on this writer has simply exposed Obama to further points of criticism. They have made incorrect and incoherent assertions about what Obama has been up to and what he thinks the way forward in Iraq should be.

Biden was supposed to help the ticket on foreign policy, but of course Biden is the one on record (1) voting for the war authorization, and (2) publicly supporting the dismemberment of Iraq into several pieces. It will be great to see Obama’s and Biden’s positions on Iraq, closely compared by an assertive and inquisitive media, right (oh, wait, I’m not sure that exists in relation to the Democrats).

Further proof that to be an Obama supporter is akin to being in a cult. With all of the unmitigated attacks on Sarah Palin, you don't see anyone on our side threatening violence against her detractors.

Maybe they are just too out of touch and unable to use a computer!

I’m waiting on that.

Can’t expect the MSM to mention it.

Then again, can’t expect Charlie Gibson to be as familiar with the Logan Act as he is with the Bush Doctrine.
