In the four years since he stepped down as Fannie Mae's chief executive under the shadow of a $6.3 billion accounting scandal, Franklin D. Raines has been quietly constructing a new life for himself. He has shaved eight points off his golf handicap, taken a corner office in Steve Case's D.C. conglomeration of finance, entertainment and health-care companies and more recently, taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters.

Franklin Raines gave an interview to this writer in JULY 2008. In the interview Raines SAID he had 'taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters.'

Obama reacted to the McCain ad today tying him to Franklin Raines. In acting so quickly, his advisors again forgot to use GOOGLE to see if they could be caught in that lie. So now we are left to either believe Obama is lying today, or Franklin Raines was lying TWO MONTHS AGO when he gave this interview. I ask you, who would you believe?
