There really is no such thing as cleaning out your computer.
Yeah, I’m not sure the actual PC/laptop is needed to bust this guy. In addition, according to his posts, he was doing so from home, so they should be able to prove that he accessed the sites in question via his ISP account.
Perhaps the only thing the gov’t could find with his actual machine is if there were any other contacts with others involved.
I wouldn’t be so sure that he doesn’t see some time behind bars. He clearly knew what he was doing was wrong, he stated he was doing it to find something on the governor in order to disrupt a presidential election, and he obstensibly stopped posting because he thought the FBI would be on his case (apparently he hadn’t though through how easy it would be to find his stupid arse). If he hasn’t been having any mental issues as of late (being depressed is indeed a real problem, but my armchair legal and psychiatry expertise would lead me to conclude that depression isn’t enough to avoid a conviction and some kind of sentence), then I think he’ll be doing some time. The kid obviously isn’t stupid, but he did a very stupid thing and he knew he was doing a stupid thing.
The only way out I see is to blame it all on a mysterious friend or some such.
This kid’s legal defense is about to take a nice big chunk out of pop’s wallet. Pop goes daddy Kernell’s savings.
If it took them this long to get a warrant, my guess is that any evidence is long gone.
ONE 0bama voter down!
Ruin his career? Hell, the Dems will run him for office after he gets out.
I doubt this is the first warrant in the case. Most likely the proxy and the guy's ISP would have wanted warrants, and the government got pretty solid information from them. Further, I would not be at all surprised if every single packet sent to/from this guy's computer in the last few days has been logged, and the government has been trying to give him a chance to do something else stupid.
I would guess that server and router logs are probably going to point a pretty strong finger at this guy, regardless of anything that's on his home computer. The contents of his home PC would just be gravy.
If he doesn't it will only be because he fully disclosed everything he knows about others, including those who hacked O'Reilly's subscriber list and obtained the subscribers' pass works, pass words that many of them used for other accounts.
If he was doing it at home, did he get any advice from dad?
Yes: "Hide the hard drive in the freezer".
They waited how many days to serve this warrant? How many DNC IT experts have been there to clean house in the mean time?
Sh*t.
[I am always sad to see young people do stupid things that ruin the rest of their lives because they dont have the capacity to think about consequences.]
No consequences. His daddy is a very, VERY important people!
I agree with you, Hattie. Nothing will be done. William Jefferson is still free and will be reelected even after all that money was found in his freezer. Charlie Rangel is still free and will be in Congress until they carry him out feet first even though he admittedly cheated on his taxes. Nothing ever happens to Democrats or their surrogates. I’m not even holding my breath over this.
The irony of the break-in at the State Department involving Obama’s passport was that it was a member of his own campaign. So why did it happen? Probably to put entries in it about a trip to Pakistan.
More than likely he used his Indonesian passport to go to Pakitstan.

Posting private e-mails is sad. Breaking into them is a crime.
In his case, Daddy probably taught him well.
Has anyone asked if he did this on a University of Tennessee account, university computer, or university time? Even if he didn’t, by committing a series of felonies while a student, he could get expelled! Universities usually require students and staff to agree to abide by all policies and laws concerning use of computers.
What about scholarship money?
Also worth considering whether Alaska or Tennessee laws may have been broken. He could be prosecuted at state level.
