SCRANTON, Pa. -- During the Republican primaries, John McCain delicately balanced his record of pushing for immigration reform with satisfying his party's new appetite for harsher restrictions. Now in a general election against an opponent who broadly shares his views on the issue, McCain is showing greater ease asserting his distance from the anti-immigration right.

Nah. I just made a note to myself to send the donation I was planning for this month’s RNC to Barletta. Maybe we all should. Any Penn person got an address handy?

Yes that’s why he referred to it as a national security issue first. McCain said secure the borders first. If he reneges on that I’ll eat crow and admit I was wrong. But until then...

We’re stuck with McCain for this round if we want Sarah Palin for the future of OUR party (and it is OURS).

What we have to do is make it clear to the little jerk that if/when he trots this crap out as President, WE INITIATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS against him right away.

The Rats will be delighted to impeach him for any reason at all and we can pressure enough Republicans to go along with them.

Republicans know WHO is winning this race and it isn’t HIM. If they want to survive politically, they’ll have to go along.

If his latest gas bubble going off is just in answer to BamBam’s lying ad linking McCain/Limbaugh over immigration, then we can ignore it AS LONG AS HE KEEPS HIS TRAP SHUT about it in the WH. IMO.

Letting emotion rule you is not a good move. Donate to Barletta. Good for you. But he’s already got a double digit lead.

Go ahead....

Be a pissant as you call yourself.

Know this....we have very little chance of defeating socialism/marxism under a Obama regime...but we have "some" chance of defeating socialism/marxism under a McCain regime.

Am I happy about the choices? Damn straight..NO!!

I like you...you seem like a decent guy..and you are funny.

But these aren't "funny" times..........There is a bigger picture.

FWIW-

It’s an all or nothing ticket. Go ahread and dump McCain under the bus. He showed extraordinary courage in picking Sarah. He will be a one term President, but you can’t even live with that to get Sarah. If McCain were such a terrible guy he would NOT have picked her.

I suspect that Palin will be the first to go under the bus if McCain get himself in trouble.

She will. She's the only thing keeping that ticket afloat, and someone as infantiley narcissistic as McQueeg can't have anyone outshining him.

The only thing sicker than McCain are the people who refuse to see what a tragically flawed figure he is. (Shakespeare couldn't have done better.)

Thank you. You are the first person on the thread to show some common sense. Let us not forget McCain said this was a national security issue first - i.e., he will secure the borders.

That’s deluded. If he were that narcissitic he WOULD NOT HAVE PICKED HER. (Duh.)

McQueeg SAYS a lot of things. In fact, on a normal day he can be expected to publicly contradict himself several times.

I hope you like crow.

Give me one "realistic" ( not MSM/DBM baloney...) scenario...that this might happen.

He showed extraordinary courage in picking Sarah.

Who said that he picked Sarah?

It was an excellent political move on the part of his campaign, but his return to amnesty, to bailouts, and to praising liberal Democrats...is him flying his true colors again.

“McCain is showing greater ease asserting his distance from the anti-immigration right.”

I don’t think people are anti-immigration. People are against ILLEGAL immigration. Sheesh.

Sheesh. Do you read? Do you listen? He did not say amnesty. He said “national security issue” first. That shows his priority.

McCain has been very reluctant to support any bailouts.

And yes he DID pick Palin. It was an excellent political move and it was HIS.

He's also a sociopath and so will have no hesitation against effectively jettisoning her when she's no longer of any use to him. Until then he'll be happy to tolerate her light outshining his.

(Wow, you're a lot slower than I suspected.)

Bovine excrement!

Do you not remember his comprehensive immigration reform bill? It was chock full of amnesty. And...encouraging millions of foreign nationals to violate U.S. law is not exactly conducive to maintaining our national security.

I said in 2000 that I could never vote for McCain. I was thankful GWB beat him in the primary. What has transpired since? He got his 1st Amendment offensive passed in 2002. He has tried to take credit for the surge that Rumsfeld directed Petraeus to develop. And he almost got his amnesty plan passed. He teamed with Lieberman pushing gun control. He was leader of the Gang of 14. He voted yes on the ridiculous energy bill that outlaws incandescent lightbulbs. He completely went off the deep end on global warming. And he stood in the way of drilling in ANWR.

In other words, he has gone downhill.

“He’s also a sociopath”

Uh huh.

“Effectively jettisoning her”? She is elected in her own right. She is not an at-will appointee.

One thing you are is extremely cynical.
