3 New National Polls Show Obama Losing Ground
Real Clear Politics/self analysis ^ | 09-23-08

3 national presidential race polls out today show the Obama campaign losing ground or holding on in the race against John McCain. The Gallup daily tracking poll has gone from a high of 50-44 in favor of Obama to 47-44 in favor of Obama, a loss of 3 percent for the democrat.

The Rasmussen Tracking poll, which used the largest sample(3000) of any recent national poll (and is made up of "likely voters" as opposed to registered voters like Gallup) shows the race remains tied at 48-48 percent.

The latestBattleground Poll of likely voters has gone from 47-47, to 48-47 McCain lead, to 48-46 McCain lead. A modest 2% change in McCains favor over the last several days.

Trouble in the US economy was thought to be a factor in Obamas recent rise in the polls but that effect seems to be wearing off.

I'll hold my breath waiting for such a trend to be picked up by the MSM.

They’ll just keep adjusting their sample weighting to keep 0bama 2 points ahead.

I hope they think they are that close. It keeps them off balance.

Although I really don’t believe Obama is that close.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It’s too soon to start celebrating.

Of course a little dance might be in order but don’t tell anyone why you’re so happy.

I said all along Obama started too soon, now he’s peaked, and is coming down hard and fast. And only the “die-hard” Demos and Liberals don’t realize what’s happening.

"They’ll just keep adjusting their sample weighting to keep 0bama 2 points ahead."

In the 2004 presidential election the turnout was 37% Democrats and 37% Republicans. If Gallup and Rasmusen used those weights in their polls it would show McCain in the mid 50% and Obama looking at the low 40%.

“Trouble in the US economy was thought to be a factor in Obamas recent rise in the polls but that effect seems to be wearing off.”

I think because the facts leading to the root of the problems back to democrats is starting to sink in.

And also we know the weighting of dem/repub ratios is another factor they may not have a good handle on.
They are probably keeping republican numbers too low.

I saw an article on Yahoo! news (I didn't click it to source it) crowing about “Obama leading in four battleground states”.

With MI, PA and MN all in play the Obama campaign cannot go on the offensive in other states they really need. It's going to be harder on them than on us for the rest of the campaign.

Correct.

The polls are being cooked and sauced. The important thing is to keep the public thinking that this thing is close.

We should keep working hard but Obama has screwed up badly.

Funny, Yahoo! News continues to beat the Indonesian Marxist Muslim’s drum ad nauseum...

Their latest news story (e.g. propaganda piece) says this headline:

“Clinton has ‘no doubt’ Obama will be elected”

If you read the article the punchline is a bit more subtle:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that Barack Obama is going to be elected the next president and that she has “no doubt” about it.

Clinton also said that while she recognizes that race and gender play a role in the minds of voters as they make their presidential choices, she believes enough people want change from Republican policies to put Obama over the top in November.’

http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/20080923/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_obama

Yahoo! and AP/Reuters, as the McCain campaigned lamented yesterday about the NYT and O’Reilly slammed Newsweek Magazine on, the Mainstream Media is overtly biased it’s insane and they do the water carrying (research, propaganda, smear tactics and hush-ups of Biden/Obama problems) for free for the DNC.

They will not admit it, but they refuse to acknowledge their terrible Left Wing favoritism.

I can see weighting the democtats a few points higher - LAST MONTH but i definitely think the two should be equally weighted now that Sarah Barracuda is on the ticket.

Yahoo! News is always, consistently, in the tank for Obama. EVERY day last summer, they had a positive lead article about Obama.

If Yahoo! News were a print publication, it would have only one use, which it would share with Sears-Roebuck catalogs and old corncobs.

Yes, this should be the next ‘Operation Chaos.’ Tell pollsters the opposite of what you really intend to do. :-)

Besides, it will keep Obama spending money in places like North Dakota!

I knew the initial hysteria over the economy would wear off as more information gets out to the sheeple, showing Obama’s associations and such. The MSM pounded it hard, but the patriots fought back. This must be driving the MSM crazy.

Not only that: the human gaffe machine, Joe Biden, may well have just handed us PA and MI with his “no coal, ever” comment in W VA. This could swing that last 2% to McCain and make this election not close.

"...Although I really don’t believe Obama is that close..."

Can't be! The wheels have been falling off the obozo campaign for the past three days and he keeps his lead no matter what. Anything that anybody wants to make up about McCain or Palin hits the news and McCain drops four %. It's all B.S! McCain's probably 10 points up but the MSM keeps obozo on top. I think that the MSM has probably already decided that O'Biden is toast and they're just jerkling us around trying to keep interst in their rags!

The weighting used in polls is ostensibly to mimic turnout. What is really says is turnout *will* determine an election. Whichever side is more jazzed *will* win.
