For crying out loud - in the late 80s the S&Ls all went toes-up for ... MAKING STUPID LOANS. Are our financial institutions’ execs so mind-boggling stupid that they have to make the same freaking mistakes?!
Beware. This is a red herring. The folks who are marketing this bailout fraud realize that the populace isn’t going to buy it as is. So they’re sugar-coating it with ill-defined investigations and promises of “punishment” for those responsible.
So the bill passes, the taxpayers get ripped off, and the investigations result in no action. Sort of like how they planned to sell us on amnesty.
Defeat the bailout bill now. There will be plenty of time for prosecutions later.
If Rep. Jefferson is still walking around free (and probably re-elected), what hope is trhere to EVER see these DemocRATS prosecuted? NOTHING will come of this sham investigation.

Just take it over and sell it off to American bidders in small chunks — not onlike that “crazy” Kucinich’s plan.

Barney Frank’s aide said we should slow down with proper oversight:

thanks goodness Frank is chair of the HFSC. With his steady watchful hand, we shall see our way through this.

The four firms mentioned at the top of this thread (AIG, Lehman Brothers, Freddie Mac, Fannie May) are only 4 of TWENTY-SEVEN investment firms/banks that were involved in the Stock Market subprime mortgage debacle are currently under investigation for fraud by the FBI!
