Australia and New Zealand issued recalls Thursday for an imported Chinese candy that was found to contain the industrial chemical melamine.
New Zealand Food Safety Authority spokesman Geoff Allen said Thursday morning that he expected the White Rabbit Creamy Candies to be off shelves within 24 hours.
"This product contains sufficiently high levels of melamine which may, in some individuals, cause health problems such as kidney stones," deputy chief executive Sandra Daly said in a statement posted Wednesday on the agency's Web site. "The levels we have found in these products are unacceptable."

I was lucky a few years back I found some dishes at Salvation Army that were not made in China.
They are like the old 60’s cafe plates.
Hard to come by now as I suppose others had the same idea as me to by non China dishes at the 2nd hand store.

Also beware of those plastic headed little princess and Dora candy dispensers. The container and candy are “Made in China”.

This headline is misleading. I didn’t see any mention of the US in this article.
