Who participates in focus groups?

I'm rather skeptical as to whether or not the composition of focus groups is truly reflective of the electorate, or of "undecided" voters. CNN and Fox News both had such groups featured tonight.

How are these groups put together? Do the participants get paid? I would imagine that they do. Is that truly reflective of the electorate?

I know that the little focus group meters they have seemed off. When McCain was sticking it to Obama, it seemed like the GOP line never really went up that high. Like, for example, when the debate turned to spending and McCain called for a spending freeze. One would think the average GOP voter would love that. It didn't seem to register that much.

Basically, I think those groups are a crock and their results are impacted by the self selection that occurs when people sign up to participate. I really wonder how many taxpayers are in those groups, as well as how many were truly Republicans or Independents.

Luntz’ group on Fox started cheering for their candidate and talking their talking point.

Good job picking out “undecideds” there Frank.

/sarcasm

My own view is that these “undecideds” are a bunch of congenital liars. And I didn’t buy their take on the debate either. I think they often say what they believe they “should” say to please the peer group. If they truly wanted a “focus” group, each person would be left alone in a sound proof booth and then cast a secret ballot.

They’re a joke. They’re supposed to be undecided voters, yet they always have blacks on these panels. Gimme a break.. there is no statistically significant number of undecided blacks this election year.

One focus panel of “undecideds” was busted for being loaded with Code Pinkers.

"Who participates in focus groups?"

S.E.I.U. members; the most radical marxist union in the US

Funny. Luntz just showed a clip of Obama with the GOP line going up up up.

Now he’s talking to the people. Seems like a bunch of tards.

Given the overwhelming track record of blacks to vote democratic, there is less than a 10% chance a black voter is truly undecided.

Greta just asked Luntz “how do you find these people?”

Response: calls and ‘internet surveys’ who were willing to consider both candidates.

lol.

"Well, the FOX focus group consisted of people vacationing in Las Vegas"

There may have been a few vacationers in the group, but it was obvious from their clothing, and general appearance that a large percentage were casino employees.

One woman judged the debate by saying McCain looked old, and some other guy said McCain looked like George W. Bush. Clearly, these are intelligent, well-informed voters LOL !!

Just now on Fox Luntz asked 2 “undecideds” about McCain:

“He looked so old.”

“He kept sounding like George Bush and using his hand movements.”

So OBVIOUSLY Dem talking points and not undecided. I can’t believe they put this guy Luntz on. What a snake in the grass.

"Who participates in focus groups?"

Someone with an agenda, one way or another.

That group of Frank Luntz is RIDICULOUS! To say they are undecided, and then for them to give those responses, is unbelievable. Frank must think we are stupid to believe them, and him.

Oh, just because they PROMISED they were undecided and they PROMISED they were open to voting for McCain or Obama, we know they are truly undecided.

Yeah, right Frank. What an idiot.

I just heard Lutz claiming how this group were truly undecideds. Bull...I mean who is an undecided voter? Does anybody get this far in the election cycle and really not have a leaning toward one candidate or the other? And if they do...why are we paying any attention to them because they’re dumb bunnies, IMHO. (Glenn Beck used to have a song parody he played call True American A#@holes: Mr. Undecided Voter...and it was very on target.)

I think Lutz gets folks who say they’re undecided...how does he truly know, hook them up to a lie detector????

I thought the CNN focus group was more deceptive. A group of “undecideds” in a Democrat county. Right. My mom always claims to be an independent and open-minded. Yet she is the most anti-Republican person I know.

Secret wouldn’t help if they weren’t truly undecided.

What is an undecided?

It is not a “leaner.” It is certainly not a “supporter.” It also is not a “voted X in the past few elections.”
