IN an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new one the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.
Inside John McCains campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. It would be fantastic, said a McCain insider. You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.
There is already some urgency to the wedding as Bristol, who is six months pregnant, may not want to walk down the aisle too close to her date of delivery. She turns 18 on October 18, a respectable age for a bride and the same age as Barack Obamas pregnant mother when she married his Kenyan father. The Democrat has already declared Bristols private life off-limits as far as his campaign is concerned.
The selection of Palin, 44, the moose-hunting governor of Alaska, as his running mate was one of McCains biggest gambles. It paid off handsomely at first, but she could benefit from a fresh injection of homespun authenticity, the hallmark of her style, provided by her daughters wedding after appearing out of depth away from her home state.
David Letterman, the late-night television chat show host, joked that Palins meetings with world leaders at the United Nations in New York looked like take your daughter to work day.

Stupid, stupid, stupid idea...
I hope the wedding is on her birthday, Oct 18.
It would be fantastic.
From a campaign standpoint, I think it would be dumb to stage a wedding. If it’s important to the families to have them married before the baby is born, then take a day in Wasilla, get everyone together with their pastor, and have a potluck supper in the fellowship hall. Disinvite as many people as possible!
Then get back to the campaign.
I doubt it is true. They keep Bristol’s life private and I really don’t think that anything is about to change concerning that.
Not gonna happen. Sarah and the First Dude eloped...it’s good enough for her daughter and Levi. AND, there’s plenty of opportunity to take care of that after the election and prior to their inauguration.
Who is this source? Whoever it is is an idiot... I hope this is a big joke...
How reliable is the timesonline? I’ve seen some pretty far out articles from that source. That being said, this would be a stupid idea if it’s true.
If done properly, it would work. Big time.
That's the problem, tho: they'd screw it up and it would look like a cheap stunt.
I’m sorry, but I think Sarah Baxter made up the entire reasons behind this article(the anonymous source) in order to use some of the other material... she was probably due for an article...
Can you imagine Bacholor party
Do you think Britsol Palin fiancee be invitating top GOP guys like McCain himself, his sons, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsefled those guys
Or even Karl Rove
I could imagine Dick Cheney would pull aside Levi tell him what happen if he hurt Bristol Palin
A Democrat for Bush By Sarah Baxter
FWIW :)
This is a hoax, a lie.
This is a hoax, a lie.
Now that’s an amusing thought! Worse than having my father, brother, and uncles around!
Well I usually like her articles, but this one was out there...
a before-the-baby-is-born wedding would be nice and since she’s 6 mos. along now, sometime before the election might be appropriate...;) I wish them well.
Why the heck would a wedding between a pregnant high-schooler and her boyfriend be seen as some public relations coup?
