Shock from Third Son's Motorbike Accident Led to Kim Jong-il's Collapse

Japanese Monthly 'Will' reported in its latest issue that N. Korean leader Kim Jong-il collapsed from the shock that his third son Kim Jong-woon was injured in a motor cycle accident in early morning of Aug. 16, with no hope of recovery.

According to the monthly, Swiss and French doctors were urgently called into Pyongyang to treat Jong-woon, but they also ended up attending to Kim Jong-il when he collpased after seeing the grisly shape his son was in.

Jong-woon suffered stroke and have been kept alive with a respirator. Doctors declared that he has 'no chance of recovery'(coma.) The shocking news pushed Kim Jong-il into serious depression, according to the report.

Kim Jong-il was reportedly on his way to recovery for a while, but since Sept. 13, he suffered heart attack again and his recovery may not be possible.

This report was filed by a freelance writer 'Phillip Ho,’ who is half-European and half-N. Korean, 'Will' said that Phillip Ho had frequent contacts with European doctors who treated Kim Jong-il in person and was able to get this information.

Will is the 2nd highest-selling monthly magazine in Japan.

And the widespread story is that SHOCK (of a heated argument) caused by son Kim Jong il, caused father Kim Il Sung's heart to explode.

I guess what goes around comes around.

I wouldn’t wish losing a son in a motorcycle accident, even on a monster like Kim Jong-il.

So guys, what is the truth? Is Kim Il Sung out of the picture temporarily or permanently? If he is gone who takes over — an older son, the military, or others?

I would say he is more or less out of the picture, but he still looks pretty good, if not a bit plastic, under glass.

I think Kim Jong-il's condition is serious. Probably won't be back to normal.

As for succession, lots of things are possible. The most plausible scenario in my view is that one of his sons becomes figurehead, and Chia Head's brother-in-law Jang Sung-taek will assemble players and back the chosen son, while Jang exerts considerable power.

This is like a royal court where young prince becomes a king and powerful court chancellor gather together various interests to back the prince and becomes power behind the throne.

However, other scenarios are certainly possible, and we do not have a sure one.

It’s a good chance for someone “new” to take control. From what I have read, North Korea is run on “autopilot”. “Things just are”. Perhaps the new person could be a puppet of China or Russia.

I can pretty much guarantee you that Kim Il Sung is PERMANENTLY out of the picture.

Because he’s dead.

Now, Kim Jong-il, Kim Il Sung’s eldest son and the present Dear Leader of North Korea, may or may not be out of the picture. I hope he is!

It’s real easy to get ‘em confused. I can remember which is which when I see ‘em written down but not necessarily in conversation.

Instead of using their names, just call ‘em Dear Leader and Dead Leader and you can’t go wrong. :-)

What normal person would risk their lives and go to that insane asylum, which is RUN by those whackos, to treat them?

We could ask Larry King to cheer him up.

“How many children?”
“Awww, you’re too young to be a grandfather!”
“Your bride was 11? Let’s see, what else, hey nice shoes!”

The “shock” story has the effect of casting Jong Il in the familiar terms of concerned, involved father —a role familiar to good people everywhere. In short, it is a representation that ENDEARS this dictator to good, average people.

So knowing what you do about the DPRK’s, how credible is that....?

My money would be on a cause of ill-health that would strike people as unremarkable, digusting, or debauched:

This is just conjecture, but that would be something like....”doing” one too many frightened ho’s after some meth, or....overeating for the millionth, or plain, old over-drinking —rumors that have circulated around this pathetic midget for a long, long time.

Jong Il:

1. Concerned father
2. Power-hungry pleasure-seeker

What’s YOUR choice, freeper?

I know what you mean. He would kill or exile his son if the son challenges him. Kim Il-sung did the same with his son Pyong-il, when he felt that he was forming his own clique and behave like an heir apparent.

On the other hand, we have had stream of first-hand account which says that Kim Jong-il wants to have real personal relationship outside political setting. The story of Japanese chef Fujimoto Kenji is one such example. He really wants to have close personal friends. Based on it, it won't be surprising that Kim had special affection for his third son. It was probably a respite from all those ruthless political machinations he has to do or deal with. Of course, things would change if his third son joins active political machination.

While it could be a puff piece, which is quite possible, I would not discount it out of hand, either.

He probably both

Pleasure seeking dicator and concern father who was dicator that had heart attack or got sick because something happen to his son

Was Joseph Stalin

Could be. Of course, that doesn't eliminate the possibility that the third son's motorcycle wreck was not an accident.
