Sarcasm From McCain to Iowa Paper
NYT ^

Posted on 10/02/2008 12:43:23 AM PDT by Chet 99

For another candidate, it might have been characterized as a “passionate defense.” But for Senator John McCain, who has long battled accusations that he has a short temper, an interview today with The Des Moines Register could be more damaging. Some of Mr. McCain’s responses to questions about issues that have been prominent in the press for the past few weeks came across as sarcastic – sometimes testy. Furthermore, the Iowa newspaper put his interview with the editorial board online, leaving him vulnerable to unflattering mash-ups.

“Really?” he responded to a question about possible concern from voters about Gov. Sarah Palin’s level of experience. “I haven’t detected that in the polls, I haven’t detected that among the base. If there’s a Georgetown cocktail party person who, quote, calls himself a conservative who doesn’t like her, good luck.”

Really? in who's opinion? Consider the source.

LOL

The voters were frustrated with McCain in the debate because they wanted to see him passionate and fired up.

So, here he is showing a small bit of ire and he’s derided as being sarcastic and saddled with an anger problem.

Aaaaaah. I love the press.

Gee, I mean McCain's been getting gang-raped by the ultraleft media thugs for how long now and they're bitchin' that he's getting a bit peeved about it ?

If McCain was a Dem the words would be spirited & passionate.

He’s just tired of these idiot liberals who are in the thank for The One. Personally, I don’t know how he can keep himself from jumping across the table and pounding these idiot “journalists.”

The bigger question: Why is he wasting him time talking to them?

I have a feeling that once this bailout passes, McCain is gonna finally take off the gloves and go after these idiots.

I didn’t see any real temper there. I would call that ‘mildly irritated’ to make good comments like that. Maybe, calling a spade a spade? Of course, the press doesn’t like that, especially because ‘their’ politicians wouldn’t know truth if it slapped them upside the head.

Johnny needs to rough up the libs if he’s going to have a chance in the election.

I’ve had my fill of eight years of GWB refusing to stand up to these people.

I'm sorry that I read the comments there. Ignorant pukes question the health care coverage that we give to those in uniform.

I thought McCain was great and frankly I did not think he was nasty. Nasty would be someone like Howard Dean,Robert Wexler,Al Gore, Bill Mahr, keith Olberman, Chris Matthews I could go on. I wish McCain would just flip them all off.

Any Republican that tries to play kissy-face with the media is asking for trouble. McCain tried to do that for a long time and I think he actually believed they'd be nice in return once he ran for (or to the point, after getting the nomination for) President. They're going to make the Dem running look like Jesus, and the Republican look like Hitler. Best to tell these thugs where they can get off right out of the chute and let the chips fall where they may.

One of McCain’s best moments in the first debate was when he lowered his voice and said “Veterans know I will take care of them. I will take care of them.”

As only a fellow warrior would.

Obama better not tread on that ground again. He will get slapped down hard.

Not getting any argument from me. Frankly, I’d like to see a little more of this from McCain. Let the old warrior show!

See the whiny little weasel comments on Youtube below the video ? Pardon me, I’d like to see him pissed off.

The comment about “Conservatives” having qualms about Palin from the unseen interrogator, McCain should’ve responded with “Who ? Give me some names. Otherwise you’re just pulling this stuff out of your ass. Oh, and btw, the VC were a lot more fair with their questionings than you thugs. Have a nice day.”

The Des Moines Register is to the left of Pravda. They will dutifully endorse Senator Barack Obama, although Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party is really more representative of their editorial board. Why in the world would Senator John McCain even go to their office on Locust Street in the first place?!
