Local supporters praise candidate's energy, down-to-earth qualities.

"Electrifying," "genuine" and "inspiring" were a few of the adjectives that Orange County voters used to describe Sarah Palin after her rally at the Home Depot Center in Carson on Saturday. Although few were surprised by the content of her speech, most O.C. residents who made the trek north said they were simply thrilled to see her in person. "What surprised me was the enthusiasm here," said Brad Michaels from Laguna Hills. "The energy level was so high." For Michaels, the highlight of the speech was Palin talking about Sen. Barack Obama.

Tracey Christofferson from Laguna Niguel entered the Home Depot Center for the rally, she was one of those politically coveted undecided voters. When she left the building, she was firmly in camp Palin. "I think what touched me was how down-to-earth she is," Christofferson said.

Good for Tracey Christofferson. Screw Gallup and Rasmussen, Palin has that je ne sais quoi air about her that's almost . . . Reaganesque.

Just look at those crowds! These poles weve been hearing about do not reflect what we are seeing.

“A large number of the attendees were women, many of whom said they saw Palin as representative of a new kind of feminism.”

...new kind of feminism?

Try...say...Traditional?, or True Feminism?

IOW not the distorted, torqued version of feminism that the NOW gang has professed and attempted to lead with since the 1960’s.

Sarah Palin 3 Actually there were about 15,000 and we were four of them. We got there early and got some great seats. Lots of great lines. She promised she was going to take the gloves off. The best line was when she quoted the quote of the day from her Starbucks coffee cup. It was from Madeline Albright of all people. "There's a special place in Hell for women who don't support women." The crowd went absolutely wild! Lots of other great zingers that you've already posted here. She wasn't lying about taking those gloves off! What a great day to be able to take my two small children to witness history--the future first woman Vice President of the United States: SARAH PALIN!

I took my independent wife and six year old daughter to the event today.

It was great fun for all of us. The crowd around us in line and at our seats were very cool multigenerational "backbone of America" folks. Lots of laughs and some serious talk mixed in. The warm ups were energetic local pols, with former Treasury Sec. Rosario Marin and Actor Jon Voight, the big name lead ups.

In a surprising move, the California head of NOW introduced Sarah. She announced that she was a life long Dem, which drew boos from the crowd lol. She then gave a gracious and supportive introduction to Gov Palin.

Sarah charged the stage with a huge smile and rocked the crowd with plenty of red meat and humor. During her speech there were about five or six Obamabots escorted out by Sheriffs as the crowd chanted USA. Sarah riffed on one, saying something like "we fight for their freedoms as well" Crowd loved it!

The clouds threatened rain, and a few sprinkles fell while Sarah was talking, but heavier patch of sprinkles waited until after she finished her speech. Overall it was a great environment for the event. The wife had some positive comments about the general vibe of being in the midst of huge numbers of Republicans lol. Perhaps she was expecting similar behavior to a Dem event, with the pot smoking and free love heh. She appreciated the family crowd, and said it felt like a neighborhood church barbecue, which sounds fine to me.

I'm very happy I took them to see Sarah, our future President, god willing!

I do have a couple pictures if anyone wants to see, just holler and I'll post links.

Evidence is mounting that California is in fact IN PLAY.

If you look at RCP polls on CA, you find that they are all seriously out of date.

McCain opened 50 campaign offices in CA recently.

Large Asian populations are not fans of Obama.

California likes GOP moderates: look at their governor. Schwarzenegger proves the GOP can win a statewide contest in CA if he's moderate like Mccain.

CA residents are fed up with big spending democrats who are bankrupting their state.

This could be huge. Even if Mccain only comes close, it will divert Obama's funds from other key battleground states.
