McCain Camp: Cleaver or foolish leading up to Tuesday's debate? (Vanity)
October 5, 2008 | Self

Posted on 10/05/2008 10:52:40 AM PDT by RonnieFan

The talk about Ayres from the McCain camp leading up to Tuesday debate is either a brilliant rope-a-dope by McCain or a fatal 11th hour miscalculation by his campaign.

Let me start by stating Obama’s association with Ayres should disqualify Obama as a serious presidential candidate BUT it doesn’t. Sadly, a 20 year association with Rev. Wright didn’t despite damning vids and the Ayres connection won’t either. Trust me; Obama would much rather debate his association with Ayres at the debate than have McCain do what the MSM has refused to do … lay out how the Democrats got us in this financial mess and how the same Democrats will control the key Committees and both Houses of Congress. Add Obama as President and you have the trifecta of doom.

Hopefully, the recent McCain camp talk about Ayres, instead of how the Democrats’ fingerprints are all over this mess, was a head fake or rope-a-dope to get Obama to prepare for the wrong debate. The current reality is that voters are much more concerned with their economic present and future than whether Ayres is repentant over his activities 40 years ago. Plus, that gives Obama the opportunity to say, “While John McCain is worried about what someone else did 40 years ago, I’m concentrating on the now and the country’s economic future.” A line the MSM will gladly push for him.

Is it right that voters are in self-interest mode over anything else right now? NO. But it is what it is AND too many voters will continue to be mad at the WRONG party and put the wrong guy in the White House unless the truth is made known.

As much as I hate Ayres, Obama’s association with Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Raines and Johnson is much more dangerous going forward. Too many people wrongly romanticize or excuse the 1960’s… there’s no romance or excuse for the mess now. Which party gets blamed for it in the November elections is up to John McCain on Tuesdat night.

The truth is never foolish; though, using cleavers are taking it too far :)

Better to have it an not need it than to need it and not have it. McCain FTW!

I'm not sure McCain or his handlers are mischievous/clever enough to attack Barry where it would hurt.

All I can see is McCain with a big, stupid grin and bare it.

Obama says he needs a scalpel, not a cleaver. :)

The truth about the Fannie Mae fiasco is too complicated for most flake voters who don’t pay attention to any of this stuff. The MSM has been lying out their aholes for Obama this entire election, they’ll just go right up there and say “Oh McCain is lying about that Fannie Mae/Democrat connection”, just like they have covered Obama on the Born-Alive act and his Sex-Ed for Kindergartners bill.

I don’t think McCain can successfully hang that around his neck.

Obama`s character and ideology matters.

McCain will have to push HARD on this to break thru
the intial push back by the domiant media who will try frame the issue as either racist, a casual relationship of no consequence, or desperation by Republicans.

Push through the left`s wall of defense, pound on the issue of Ayers, domestic terrorism, ACORN, the CRA/Fannie Mae/Frank/Dodd.

Stick to the facts, repeat the facts until the left gets sick and don`t get led down any of the left`s rabbit holes.

If polled, every poll says people hate negative campaigning and negative ads. However, the facts speak for themselves THEY WORK , and always have.

At this point what will work? Obama has been like teflon.

McCain can reveal at the debate that Obama deep fries kittens and has proof and he’ll still be five to eight points ahead in the polls.

I have been posting this around. I even tried posting it on the Huffington Post- I know better than to expect it to survive there. But here goes again:

The following is an email I sent to Bret at Weekend Live on Fox news:

“I would like someone to explain to me the difference between Ayers and Charles Manson. Please bear with me- it’s not far-fetched.

Ayers and Manson both headed groups that killed innocent people, although Manson didn’t actually commit violence himself, but Ayers DID. Is that difference simply that Ayers group killed cops and Manson’s killed “beloved” members of the celebrity community? Manson did not, himself, actually do any physical harm, yet Ayers, himself, planted bombs that severely hurt quite a few people, including a young airman. Well, if the difference is that Ayers “only” hurt government workers and cops, as the wife of a cop, I’m not buying it.

“Out here” we must be responsible for our actions and our associations- “you lie down with dogs, you get fleas”, and all that. I see NO reason why Obama shouldn’t be held to the same account.

Manson will never get out of prison and Ayers has never served a single day. People say Manson is mad because of his “crazy rants”, Yet Ayers gains a university teaching job and a interviews with the mainstream press where he makes HIS crazy rants.

I hope you will understand why I just don’t see the difference between them.”

I WANT someone to explain WHY WHY WHY Ayers walks the streets, poisoning the minds of our children in a classroom and is viewed, somehow, as a politically savvy operative. I WANT to know WHY this man isn’t in prison. If a person can be sent to prison for the REST of his life for what his followers did and STAY there because of his percieved craziness- then WHY isn’t Ayers in the next cell??!!
