Russian president Dmitry Medvedev calls for Europe to freeze out US
The Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 8th Oct 2008 | Adrian Blomfield

The Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, has called on European leaders to create a new world order that minimises the role of the US.

Confident that a spat with Europe prompted by Russia's invasion of Georgia in August was over, Mr Medvedev arrived in the French spa town of Evian determined to woo his fellow leaders into creating an anti-US front.

Gone was the kind of war time rhetoric that saw Mr Medvedev lash out at the West and characterise his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvili as a "lunatic". Instead Mr Medvedev spoke of a Russia that was "absolutely not interested in confrontation".

Yet there was little doubt that Mr Medvedev was playing the divide-and-rule tactics of his predecessor Vladimir Putin by seeking to pit the United States against its European allies.

SNIP

He blamed Washington's "economic egotism" for the world's financial woes and then accused the Bush administration of taking Europe to the brink of a new cold war by pursuing a deliberately divisive foreign policy. He also maintained that the United States was once again trying to return to a policy of containing Russia.

SNIP

In order to end the "unipolar" model in which the world depended on the United States, he proposed creating new financial systems to challenge the dominance of the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organisation, both of which had fallen under Washington's spell.

Slamming the enlargement of Nato, which he said had advance provocatively towards the borders of Russia, he also proposed drafting a new European Security Treaty. While Russia has insisted it is not intending to supplant Nato, Mr Medvedev made it clear that the US-dominated alliance was partly responsible for the war in the Caucasus by its failure to rein in Georgian "aggression".

Honestly - I don’t care.

If the Europeans feel they need to cozy up to the new Tsars/Mafia in Russia, then they are beyond saving. I certainly would not be in favor of the US getting involved in ANY new European wars.

Well, maybe this time Europe will embrace communism to the fullest instead of us having to go there and save their sorry asses again. Besides, we are going to be in a civil war here for this country. Let the Eurowinnies make the New Soviet Europe and live with it. To hell with Europe. They are a bunch of ungrateful ass holes anyway. We bailed their sorry asses out twice from German domination, and defended the jerks from the Soviets for 50 years. Let them do their own dirty work for once.

Dmitry Medvedev, has called on European leaders to create a new world order that minimises the role of the US.
I'm sure he'll change his mind after Barry takes office. Then again, after Barry takes office, there won't be much of anything left to minimize.

When I read my bible everynight before I go to bed, its like Im reading a newspaper of today’s headlines.

Scary times, I pray G_d will give us his mercy, but than again maybe his mercy is to stop this madness.

While I get angry with the Europeans too, this is Medvedev. The Europeans haven’t signed on to this hair-brained plan.

Russia’s stock market was down 18% the other day. I don’t think anyone is stupid enough to sign on to that house of cards built on sand below the high tide line.

Russia and it's leaders are just unhappy with how little attention is paid to it, since LOSING the cold war.

Next time it will likely be Russia v European muslims and that should be a strictly private beef.

Regarding our civil war: at what point do you estimate the US Armed Forces will withdraw allegiance to a marxist US president?

France signed on to his proposal about 30 years before he proposed it.

Fortunately, we don't care.

The French are silly, irrelevant and gay.

Don't know what the armed forces will do. I seriously doubt they will. If so ordered, most of them will stand and defend D.C. against the people. They will follow the orders of their superiors for the most part. I sworn an oath to defend the Republic and Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC. I, myself, consider anyone who calls himself a Dimocrat to be a MARXIST, and an enemy to my country. Thus, I will fight. I don't have the fire power of the military or the government jackboot storm troopers like at Waco, but I am not going to hand in my liberty either.

I think it would be good for us and the Euroweenies wouldn't hold together for long before they come looking to lick our boots.

Every week like clockwork, the Russkies throw a hissy fit about America blah blah blah.

It really sucks for them that they got their asses kicked by Reagan, and just like algore’s mental breakdown after losing to W, they’re just panting for attention. Here’s a lollipop, russia...now suck on it.

The Armed Forces, as an institution, will remain loyal to whomever occupies the White House as long as there’s at least a semblance of Constitutional government. Individuals will desert and units crumble as the reality becomes more and more obvious, but misguided loyalty or fear of reprisals will ensure that some fight to the death.

If it comes to that in our lifetime.
