I loved See’s Candy when I lived in Seattle. Fanny May in Chicago was great too.
I don’t know, Polly. *Waving back* I was just “thinking out loud” and now I want something sweet!!
No more animal circus cookies?
I think the news may be responsible for the passing of Chucko the Clown. RIP.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Dam! Dam! those are my favorite {tears shedding}. Those have always been my favorite childhood cookies. Well I guess it is time to buy several bags of my favorite Ice Animals and stock them away and keep one unopened for eternity as a reminder of those “good old days”
Oh, we have Big Lots. I just figured they wouldn’t make it all the way back here.
I mean, I can’t get decent pizza, good Chinese food, garlic cheese, or sourdough bread(*sigh*) here!!
Sad to hear. Once upon a time long ago I did some contract hauling for the company. The Oakland plant is huge. My favorites are the Taffy cookie sandwiches — I’ll have to have a farewell feast.
Thanks, NR, don’t know why I thought the Girl Scout cookies were from Mother’s. Kind of sad to see a longtime brand close up shop.
Is Mother finally retiring?
I know, with the sprinkles on them...just damn.
CA is Taxing this companys out of business or deciding to move the company out of state to survive.
You can order Fanny May candy online. mmmmmmm
in this case, probably both, they will still make the cookies in Ohio and Canada somewhere. this brand got caught up amidst others in a merger or such, it seems. this is part of a consolidation of resources.
Pelosi lied, the cookies died.
Me too. I liked iced raisin cookies and always bought several bags when returning home from California.
Absolutely right. Mother’s iced raisin cookies and sourdough bread. Not replaceable. Now I only feel half as bad being away from California. Still miss that sourdough though.
I think Hershey's Chocolates moved their Oakland based operations to Mexico sighting high taxation as one of the problems with profitability.
They were sold several times and they and Archway were owned by the same company. They closed the Oakland bakery in 2006, but had a distribution facility there. The cookies were baked in Ohio and Canada and the HQ was in Mich.
