From Sandy in PA: obama said last night that his mother spent the last months of her life (when she was dying of cancer) lying in a hospital bed "fighting with the insurance company".
What's bothering me about this is:
a) That he is using his mother's death for political gain (but I'm not surprised) and I'm suspicious that he's lying anyway.
b) What kind of son or daughter allows their sick and dying mother to have to deal with the insurance company crap? I think a lot of us can attest to stepping in and dealing with the insurance company when our parents, grandparents or relative were too sick to do it.
c) Did he not previously say that he regretted not spending more time with his mother before she died? So if he wasn't there, how does he know she was lying there fighting the insurance company?
You know, I would not normally question someone who says this sort of thing, because I know people have problems with their insurance companies, and so have I. But coming from him, its not only questionable, but I resent that he uses it for political gain, and if its true, what kind of son lets their sick mother deal with that kind of thing?
OK, sorry for the rant, but I just find this too disgusting and he just said it again in his campaign speech in Indiana today, of course to loud cheers from the crowd. It just makes me sick. I hope my comments haven't offended anyone. I just had to get this out.

The mother of American Presidential hopeful, Barack Obama, Mrs. Ann Dunham lived in Pakistan for five years. During this time, Barack Obama also visited his mother and stayed for a few months. Mrs. Ann Dunham was hired as a consultant by the Asian Development Bank for Pakistan Agricultural Development Bank’s Gujranwalla Agricultural Development Program. This program began in 1987 and ended in 1992. Mrs. Ann Dunham monitored the funds received for this program from the Asian Development Bank and trained the Mobile Credit Officers of the Agricultural Bank. This program was controlled from the Gujranwalla Regional Office. She stayed for five years in the Hilton International Hotel (now Avari Hotel), Lahore. She traveled daily from Lahore to Gujranwalla. When Barack Obama visited Pakistan, he stayed in the same hotel. After returning from Pakistan, she died from cancer within three years.

He also brought this up in his Denver acceptance speech and my immediate response as he said it was “So why didn’t YOU help her, you bum?”

He says he WATCHED her argue with insurance companies. When? She was either in New York or in Hawaii and he was in Illinois so this is either sloppy language or (oh-oh)another lie like his phony, could-never-have-happened astronaut story from the same speech. And since he makes it “companies” this certainly sounds like she was trying to get insurance after she was already diagnosed.

I can’t find it right now but I seem to remember reading that his mother read his 1st book before she passed away (Nov 1995) and made a comment to the effect of she wasn’t bothered that she wasn’t in it much.
It looks like the Audacity of Hope was published in 2006 (interesting he had so much time to write the book w being a Senator, running for Pres and all).
.sounds to me that the dtr became estranged from her own family, that hussein was not brought up in a stable environment, that the dtr was a loose woman seeking male companionship anywhere except with white guys...she wasn't a looker that's for sure....and she died alone and penniless..
..a "renowned" phd who traveled the world didn't put a little money away for a rainy day?...incredible..

Why does it surprise anyone when a RAT throws their dead mother or their cancer-stricken wife under the bus to win an election?! I thought it was standard procedure, and the only question was WHEN, not IF.
I just want to add something I found out tonight. According to this article, Ann took an apartment next to her parents’ when she returned to Hawaii to die.
