(Vanity) McCain just surrendered tonight. Time to pick our favorites for 2012.

McCain just killed all the momentum and enthusiasm of the last week with this simple sentence in response to an angry attendee at a rally tonight:

“I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States."

“No, ma’am. He is a decent family man, citizen"

Tells one supporter who says he’s scared of an Obama presidency: “I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.”

“We knew a while ago that we’d have to drag Yosemite Sam’s corpse...”

How exactly are WE going to do that when McDole just told the undecideds that it’s okay to vote for Obama? WE aren’t enough votes to win elections, or Fred Thompson would be the nominee. The ones who need to hear over and over and over again that Obama is dangerous and scary and not to be trusted just heard exactly the opposite from the mouth of McCain himself. Expect it to be played about a million times in the next week, until the MSM is sure that every undecided voter has heard it at least five times.

With all due respect, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Even the clueless halfwits who run the AssClown RNC understand that it is Palin who sells out McCain's events, Palin who has kept McCain in this game. In Virginia, they have moved a Palin event from an Areana to the Richmond International Speedway. As any NASCAR fan will tell you, Richmond holds 100,000 people. If they come anywhere near to filling those grandstands, that will be Palin's breakout moment.

Should McCain lose, Palin will go home and put her nose to the grindstone and be a good reform Governor of Alaska. So she shall, confounding her critics. She'll turn into the Young Reagan before our very eyes. As will Bobby Jindal, I might add.

She'll be fine. It's the Bush Republicans who've run the Party into the ground in Washington who will have to be purged.

The only Bushie who will survive and prosper will be Condi Rice, and only because she'll get bored stiff in Palo Alto. She'll want to get back in the game. McCain almost picked her for VP and is probably somewhat disappointed that he didn't, given the need to roll out Sarah. Condi will write a blockbuster memoir and then hit the chicken dinner circuit for the congress critters.

Best,

Chris

He will recover, it isn’t a game ending mis-step.

Really. He should have attacked the rhetoric rather than the base. He offended thousands. Even worse, right in the middle of actually showing some life, he advocated for his opponent and killed all the momentum he built up.

Stupid move. Very stupid move.

Those screaming the hate could have been democrat activists playing the devils advocate. McCain had no idea who was doing it. He underestimates the "anything goes" determination of the left to take control of all 3 powers of our government.

Very stupid. Very, very stupid.

Read the responses to this thread and the one where I lifted the quotes from. Hardly an exaggeration.

Pass the word to the McCain campaign- this isn’t helping matters.

Ya think?

Sounds like a similar comment what Bush said about Putin, “I looked into his eyes and saw a decent honest man”. Oh boy!

What a jack ass this guy is. Just a jack ass. The most inept, all-over-the-board, up and down, hot and cold, campaign I've ever seen. JACK ASS, MCCAIN!

Sucks the entire wind out of the last two weeks! All of us hoping for him to fight!

My vote is for any of these combinations: Hunter/Palin or Palin/Jindal or DeMint/Coburn.

I am not given to rants, but rant I will.

What the Hell is wrong with John McCain? I am so disgusted I can't express it here without getting banned. He is throwing it away, he does not see that the base is concerned, angry and frustrated beyond all repair.

I never wanted him for a candidate, and until he picked Palin, I was just going to vote for him (against Obambi really), have a large adult beverage and drown my sorrows.

So, he picks an actual conservative, and I get on the band wagon. Now this. I just do not understand why he is throwing it all away, and in the meantime, throwing every conservative under the “Straight Talk Express” as well.

My country, one I served by the way, just like him is on the verge of being turned over to a Socialist sleeper, lefty nightmare and possible closet Muslim, and what do we get? Sweetness and light. For God's sake, how in the Hell did we get to this point?

If you know then explain it to me, because I am totally confused, disgusted, clueless and bummed out. The more we support him, the less he gets it. I just for the life of me , do not understand why he is throwing it away, and moreover why he does not see the freakin’ train coming down the tracks.

I am done, thank you for allowing a none-ranter, this rant.

this is our chance to hold the white house while we developed conservative leadership that doesn't originate in DC because that place is a cesspool. We will really need to search outside to find someone that fits the bill.

I truly fear a country with Obama as president.

While Obama walks on the water....HA!...and that is a joke in more ways than one.

No kidding! Barry should have been pilloried for his cockamamie ideas about saving money on his health-care scheme. Some nonsense about cutting back on paperwork, that's gonna save money???? Like he knows how to run a medical office, anywhere?

He HAS to say things like that at public events, but there are a million ways to say it that do not include the words “Obama” and “president of the United States” in the same breath.

That is what McCain was trying to do naming Palin to his ticket; pull in someone from outside the beltway, away from the old Nixonian/Bush 41 way in the GOP... and all anyone does is complain or call him nasty names... We should support him if for no other reason than the change his election would bring to the future of this party, I don’t expect he would run for a second term and Palin would be groomed to go against Hillary in 2012. If people want to wander in the desert for many moons to come, then stay home on November 4th.

Once again Rush is RIGHT. We are going to have to drag McCain, probably kicking and screaming, to the Presidency.

I am not convinced that “Yosemitie Sam” (sp), really wants to be President of the United States. We can't leave him any choice in the matter. Obama would destroy what is left of our country.

Have you considered that the question could have been a setup to get a response from Mc Cain that the main stream media could use to hang him with.

Recall Senator Allen in Va.?

I think that Mc Cain knew what he was doing. He did not fall into their trap.
