Metro State clears teacher in Palin essay flap

A special investigation of part-time Metropolitan State College instructor Andrew Hallam has determined that he had not violated any college policies in assigning an essay on Republican vice president nominee Sarah Palin to one of his English classes.

"The investigation concluded that Hallam must learn to curb the use of vulgar language in class, and that the introduction of controversal topics must have a substantial relationship with the subject of the class," according to a news bulletin released by the college Tuesday.

"While discipline is not warranted, appropriate mentoring is recommended."

Hallam, who started teaching at Metro State College this semester, came under fire in September, after he gave a controversial assignment to one of his English classes.

He allegedly told them to write an essay that would contradict "the fairy tale image of Palin" as presented at the Republican National Convention.

The adjunct professor, Andrew Hallam...asked students to write an essay critical of Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin.

One student said the instructor singled out Republican students in the class and allowed others to ridicule them.

The chair of Metro State’s English Department is not taking sides

This is the only one I’ve heard about but I’ll bet there are a lot of others out there.
Liberal academia is nearly as dangerous zero is.

Surprise, surprise, “no discipline is warranted” for targeting Republican students for ridicule. Just make sure it’s better tied to the course syllabus next time so the college can cover their butts. This professor’s desk would already be cleared off if he had done this to Democrat students.

oh, i wish they did that to me... i love going 'toe-to-toe' with libs. once you understand how the lib brain 'works'... it's easy enough to get them in a logic lock and make them look stupid

libs depend on confronting people that have no facts. they also like to intimidate... which doesn't phase me

They should not be getting taxpayer funding if they are pushing their political biases.

This is SO typical of college life today. Mrs. Whipitgood is attending a local college and says that there is a LOT of political cr@p in the classroom. If you try to counter it your grade suffers. Try too hard and you will fail that class. Nothing can be done by the poor students. They just have to shut up and take it. There are very few converts however.
