Hey McCain Camp: Read My Lips (Put your Hula Hoop on National TV)

HEY MCCAIN CAMP: READ MY LIPS

Reformists Win: We Have Sarah, and They Don't

At 56, I can commiserate with the senior advisers of the McCain Camp who may be experiencing intermittent hearing loss, sight blurriness and concentration irregularity. In sympathy then, allow me to reach out to my aging brethren:
"Hey guys, read my lips - IT’S....SARAH...PALIN, ...STUPID!---BUY...TV...TIME....AND....LET...HER... ADDRESS...THE..NATION!

Respectfully, it is beyond me why the McCain Camp seems at a loss as to how to win this election - (1) put the professional, charismatic communicator on national television where she will (2) deliver a scripted McCain message to 70,000,000 (3) in very reassuring tones that will undo the media created negative caricature, and thereby, vitiate any claim that she is not presidential. (4) all of which will give you the customary Palin Poll bump (5) that will provide the momentum that will win the election.

Gentlemen, with all due respect, please try to focus on these facts about Gov. Palin:

* Commands media attention- Governor Palin drew 70,000,000 to the vice presidential debate. Recently, the Washington Post published the hard evidence that documents the media’s obsession with her. - "Palin’s A Media Hit? You Bethcha.". - Can we agree that she commands media attention?

* Best Speechmaker- This from Patrick Healy of the New York Times (that's not a misprint, NY Times)- "Ms. Palin has emerged as the most electrifying speechmaker among the four politicians on the major party tickets." Can we agree then that she gives a mean speech?

* Professional Communicator- By profession, she is trained in broadcasting. Richard Greene, a communications experts, said this: "She is so charming and so media savvy. When she has a script, she will completely seduce America." (here ) Can we agree, Ms. Palin is a professional communicator?

* The Likeability Factor- Consider the grudging respect of her detractors, here Tina Fey asserts : "And that lady [Palin] is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likable." And even as far away as Australia, we read: "According to a Daily Telegraph poll...2663 people. 44% would love to invite Mrs Palin around for a barbecue... Senator Obama was also popular, with 37 per cent...2% Senator Biden." (here ) Can we agree then that she likeable?

In this regard, the campaign should consider the following:

* In a Presidential setting on national television, Governor Palin must address the nation in this time of crisis. In reasoned and Presidential tones, she must deliver John McCain’s economic recovery plan and set forth the case for John McCain: "in this time of crisis, if we make the wrong decision, things could actually get worse. With Mr. Obama, we go from the frying pan into the fire."

* She must appear in national ads, possibly in the setting of "fireside chats". She's sits by a roaring fire, picture window with snow, casually dressed- and she gives somber but upbeat FDR/McCain reassurance.

* She can create havoc with the upcoming Obama info-mercial by being placed opposite him on network- or on cable.
To my contemporaries in the McCain Camp, if you still don't get it- think of it this way. It's late 1950's, you have just come into possession of the patent for the Hula-Hoop. I trust you would go out and sell it to millions, and not stand in your basement playing with it.

Agree Sarah needs to go in, and hit the swing states hard, needs to visit Florida 6 times between now and November 4th.

Same with Ohio, and other key states.

McCain Campaign, LET LOOSE THE LIONS!

Ramming SPEED!

They need ads explaining her Alaska record with details. Why was she considered a reformer in Alaska, what did she do to bring down the “old boys” network, and how did she deal with oil companies? People don’t know those details because the press isn’t reporting them. The McCain campain needs ads explaining them.

I agree. There isn’t much time left to let the nation see Sarah Palin. Do it now.

Absolutely! Put Sarah on FNC and one of the DBM networks (e.g.,CNN) an hour immediately after obama has his half-hour infomercial. It could give us an extra 4 points.

While I agree in principle isn’t it sad that our presidential candidate is so weak that we have to run our VP candidate in order to win.

I wonder whether McCain isn’t a bit too egotistical about his own appeal and charisma to allow Governor Palin to don her Presidential black suit and do what you all suggest. - It would be a good idea, as would anything positive right now.

I looked in the mirror this morning, and I realized that I was long past competing for Miss America. If I had someone I could sponsor who WAS suited to compete for MA, I’d sponsor her instead.

I said on another thead that IF McCain could come up with the money to match Obama’s buy of a half-hour prime time network show, then he ought to split the time 50-50 with Sarah Palin.

It would look weak if he gave her the whole half hour. But the two of them put on a terrific combined performance at the Convention, and they could do it again.

McCain needs money, because Obama is outspending him by a huge margin, what with his Communist billionaire pals and all the laundering of Arab and other foreign money.

If McCain can’t do it, maybe someone else can come up with the money. No, probably not Freepers, who don’t have that kind of dough, but some patriot with a few extra dollars.

Gov. Sarah Palin is the most popular Republican out there. She would outshine anybody, let alone McCain.

I think ads letting her make a personal appeal to voters on issues without the campaign jargon and Fargo speak would work. Talk about abortion and being pro-life. Talk about local issues and communities, talk about gun rights, talk about stopping government expansion, talk about small business, talk about real energy issues.

Ask people to believe in McCain and what his administration will be about.

And, they could also use some other famous figures as well as the unknown average working person/small business type to talk about why they are supporting McCain.

Sarah would be fine if they have other people doing it as well.

“As far as Obama’s money lead, it’s significant. But Rove neglected to mention that McCain/Palin & the RNC have $160 million set aside for ads in battleground states these last 2-3 weeks.”

Rush Limbaugh has said several times recently that we need to help drag McCain/Palin across the winning finish line.
Perhaps Rush would kick in the $900k needed for a half-hour Palin Fireside Chat from her Governor’s office in Alaska (there might even be some snow visible outside the window).

I don't want to see anyone else in the half-hour TV program except Sarah. Her delivery will be far more effective than anyone else. I can't imagine any off-the-street citizen narrative, or any politician's statement to be nearly as powerful as a personal delivery by Sarah Palin.

That wouldn’t be a bad idea. If Rush is the host, then he can invite anyone he wants to his show. But I’m not sure if the network offer to the McCain campaign of equal time at equal price to the McCain campaign would apply to a third party.

Still, maybe something can be worked out. We just need a patriotic sugar daddy to pitch in. No ideas here, I’m afraid—most of my rich friends have turned into stupid liberals, and I wouldn’t want to give them any ideas!

Ultimately McCain has to win this on his own. Sarah can't do it, Rush can't do it, Sean can't do it, Freepers can't do it. He has to close the deal and I really don't think he can. If you owned a company and was looking to fill an executive position would you hire someone who sent their sister in to interview for them? I wouldn't. That is why there are 15% undecideds. A lot of people are not comfortable with Bambi for a variety of reasons, but they just can't wrap their heads around a McCain presidency. A solid Republican candidate would be up by 3-4% right now just on the anti OBama vote alone. According to the IBD poll McCain is losing 20% of conservatives and 42% of Catholics against a man who approves of PBA and allowing those fortunate children that escape to die. Face it people he's just a weak candidate. He offers voters no reason to vote for him other than he isn't the other guy. I don't think that is going to be enough which is scary considering the alternative. I am scared to death of the repercussions of an OBama presidency. I am going to hold my nose and vote for McCain, but I don't really think he will be much of a president I just think Barry will be sooooo much worse. That's sad.

Bambi has outspent McCain 30-1 in media buys, has the whole DBM in the tank for him, is the darling of the rest of the entertainment industry, is loved by the world, is articulate, young, attractive and still can't close the deal. The election is up for grabs, but McCain has to win it we can't do it for him nor can any of his surrogates. 300M people, the country faced with a major financial/economic crisis, two shooting wars and an undeclared international war on terror and these two are the best we can do, pathetic and terrifying.

Not true. Ask an everyday person what they feel about the election issues and why they are voting for McCain. What about Joe the Plumber? Let him talk about why he fears an Obama administration and how it will deny him his dreams. Let a woman who is pro-life talk about her issues. Let investors talk about why they don’t want Obama.
