GOP pulling ads from Louisiana[Senate race]
The Hill ^ | 16 Oct 2008 | Ian Swanson

Senate Republicans are pulling advertising from the Louisiana Senate race, the only contest in which they were on the offense.

The decision, reported by local media, is a blow to the GOP candidate, Louisiana state Treasurer John Kennedy, and good news for Sen. Mary Landrieu, long seen as the lone vulnerable Democratic senator in this cycle. Landrieu won election in 2002 with just 52 percent of the vote, and some believe the state has turned more Republican since Hurricane Katrina, which shrank the size of New Orleans.

Still, Landrieu has been comfortably ahead in recent polls. She led by 13 points in a September 27 Rasmussen poll of 500 likely voters.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee, which is pulling the ads from Louisiana, may want to inject more money into seats once seen as safe, including Kentucky, where Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell appears to face a difficult challenge. Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.) also appears vulnerable, and recent polls show Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) could be in trouble in Georgia.

I have Shreveport TV stations on our satellite, and seems to me that Kennedy was a weak candidate to begin with.

The Stupid Party wants to throw in the towel. They don't deserve A DIME from conservatives!

The Republican leadership in DC is a non factor.
McConnel and Boehner need to go.

Time to bring in the future stars of the party.

Negative? Do you want only ‘positive’ news, or ‘the’ news?

I post different things from different perspectives. If you don’t like the post, the next post might be something you will.

The Globalist RNC has its instructions, too, it would seem. Bush, the RNC, the media, the whole famdam country is dedicated to pushing us into The New World Order.

Well, I’d rather see progress with this seat, but the fact is that Kennedy hasn’t made any progress against Landrieu at all. So, it seems like a good idea to focus elsewhere.

The only reason Landrieu won the last election was that she posed as a pro-lifer. Then she immediately started voting for abortion.

I wonder if Kennedy pushed that angle at all? Louisiana is corrupt, no doubt, but there is a substantial pro-life majority that the Democrats have to treat very gingerly.

Unfortunately, the Country Clubbers who run these campaigns don’t seem to understand that being pro-life is a winning issue and doesn’t need to be hidden.

The dead can no longer vote in Orleans Parish, so I thought Kennedy would have a chance.

He still gets my vote and with a heavy turnout for McCain I think he can still pull it out.

I would think she had a chance with all the ‘dems’ and ‘deads’ washed away from the Hurricanes??

The RNC is pathetic - They have no systematic approach, no aggression, NO creativity......Nothing when it comes to setting and shaping of a factual premise.....Be it on the economy, the WOT, the current financial mess that DEMs put us into.....not on a thing.

They are a complete and utter joke. The RNC needs to understand the political landscape is shaped 24/7, 365 days a year.....and you need to be on the offensive, you need to be premise-setting each of those days.....Not trying to "trick" the voters in the last 30 days of an election cycle....

But that would take real work, that would take a systematic approach.....Thus, it isn't done.

New leadership is needed throughout the RNC and PR staffs ....

The only reason Landrieu won the last election was that she posed as a pro-lifer.

After the election, I got into a heated exchange with a fellow Freeper over that.

He didn't live here and knew nothing of Louisiana but insisted that Landrieu won because her opponent was pro-life.

Nonsense.

You should have heard the constant barrage of "I am Mary Landrieu and I am pro-life" ads that flooded the TV and radio that year. She was more pro-life than Randall Freaking Terry, until election day.
