McCain ACORN Fears Overblown: Experts (More Expert Libs)

Charges of Voter Fraud Are Out of Proportion to Reality, They Say

Charges of potential vote fraud volleyed by Republicans, including Sen. John McCain himself, are out of proportion to reality, according to election experts.

During Wednesday's final presidential debate before the November election, Sen. John McCain said Sen. Barack Obama is tied to ACORN, a nonprofit group that McCain said "is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy." But election experts say McCain's charges of potential vote fraud are overblown. Collapse

The concerns – raised by the Republican National Committee in daily conference calls with reporters, as well as by McCain himself in Wednesday's debate – focus on the nonprofit group ACORN, whose nationwide voter registration efforts have garnered apparently fraudulent registration cards, some for fictional characters like "Mickey Mouse."

ACORN, whose registration efforts generally target poor neighborhoods, "is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy," McCain claimed last night, citing Sen. Barack Obama's ties to the group.

Obama reportedly worked with ACORN when he ran a Chicago-area voter registration drive shortly after graduating from law school, and conducted leadership training with the group. During the primaries, Obama's campaign paid an ACORN-affiliated group $800,000 for get-out-the-vote efforts, which reportedly did not include voter registration. The group's political arm has endorsed Obama's candidacy.

But McCain's voter fraud worries – about ACORN or anyone else – are unsupported by the facts, said experts on election fraud, who recall similar concerns being raised in several previous concerns being raised in several previous elections, despite a near-total absence of cases.

Amazing. Obama doesn't have to fight in this election. The Mainstream Media does it for him.

200,000 fraudulent votes in Ohio alone, a mere scratch I tell you.

ACORN, vote fraud and mortgage fraud in one package.

Absence of charges or absence of fraudulent names casting ballots? These are two different things.

Send these videos to them. I did! We need to hit all the media and tell them to deny this blatant voter fraud by the Obama campaign during the Democrat Primaries. Tell them the Hillary supporters know all about it as shown in these videos!

HEY LAMESTREAM MEDIA! THE F.B.I. IS INVESTIGATING ACORN...I'D CALL THAT SERIOUS, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR LAMESTREAM 'EXPERTS' SAY!!

Anyone else notice that the LameStream Media sucks up to "Voter Fraud" claims when the DEMOCRAT party alleges it...but laugh it off whenever REPUBLICANS have evidence?!

200,000 fraudulent registrations is hardly overblown. I can only imagine the outcry if it were Republicans. Screw the media. We should just go for broke on this and fight them every step of the way

The guy who wrote this story used to be a talking points memo bloggers... I’ve noticed a lot of bias in his reporting... he’s purposely framed the troopergate story to an attack narrative even though the new details that came out went in Palin’s favor...

Yep. You can guess if it’s “MSM” or “non-MSM” by scanning the headline.

They have professional propagandists.

The left has been using this to poo-poo the idea that they are committing voter fraud ever since I remember the issue.

“No cases of anyone casting a fraudulent ballot.”

However, they scream and screech when anyone tries to put ID requirements on the person casting a ballot. No other reason than they want to cheat.
