While I will have to admit that I am surprised by this — I think the majority here at FR pretty much called this the other day.

He is completely sold off what is left of his soul with this incredible slap in the face to the military.

It doesn’t matter that Powell endorses BHO. The average black would be voting for BHO anyway, w/o Powell’s endorsement. I suspect the average black barely knows who Powell is, or what he has done. Go ahead, ask a few.

Liberal whites will be voting for BHO anyway, and those of us who want to save the United States from socialism will vote for McCain.

I would have been shocked if Powell had sat this out without stabbing the Republican party in the back.

Well we now know where he stands in terms of putting his country first. Let the rats and media now dare to accuse the GOP of racisim. Time to go full steam ahead on Obama’s 20 year relationship with Wright. Everything should be on the table. I never thought I’d see a once respected General support a radical leftist over an American hero. This guy is dirt.

well working under a liberal Bush admin. it must come natural for him. I respect Powell and his decision and I think it will have a impact on strengthen his own voters. I blame Bush for Obama’s rise.

You got it. He is sticking it in GW’s eye one last time and rebuilding his career. I imagine he realized he is damaged goods in the media’s view and this rehabilitates it. Most conservatives gave up on him years ago.

I’m sure he is a good man, just a bit self centered.

Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops

POWELL IS DESPICABLE!! He owes EVERYTHING to Republicans, but BLACKNESS is the ONLY thing that matters!!! Obama want to RUIN THE MILITARY and bring down MAERICA to THIRD WORLD STATUS!!

I don't quite agree with you. He did his job for the Republicans and that is all he needed to do. I am disappointed about this, but thrilled that it has not gotten any news. I think it is going to be a sleeper...basically all folks will say “Oh who cares”.

Maybe the talk of a McCain endorsement was planted to mislead people.

Why? Look at the threads, a lot of people around here were conviced that Powell would come out for McCain. Instead he's aligned himself with Obama. I doubt that the endorsement will have a whole lot of effect on the polls, though.

There are probably some voters it will help with, but I think you may be right. When Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams appear to be the only black men in the country left to vote for McCain it may raise the question in the back of other voters’ minds if blacks are so monolithically united and motivated on color—can Obama be otherwise?

What total garbage. I read negativity everyday on FR about Pres. Bush and those people are still here. In fact, I bet the vast majority of FR is not happy with the Pres.

While I believe Bush is a good man, I also believe he has made tons of bad decisions and choices.
