This week Jets quarterback Brett Favre caused a significant stir in The Big D when he curiously pushed Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo into playing this week, or at least giving it a shot with a broken pinkie. Favre reportedly talked Romo into sucking it up to play, and rather than missing Sunday's game, he was listed as the No. 2 behind Brad Johnson.
It turns out the Cowboys aren't the only team this year the New York Jets signal caller has spent time talking to.
Several sources have told FOX Sports that Favre earlier this year phoned the Detroit Lions prior to their battle versus Favre's old team, the Green Bay Packers, and gave them a rundown of the nuances of what Green Bay does on offense. According to the sources, Favre actually spent over an hour on the phone with Lions coaches, who were connected with Favre by then-team president Matt Millen.

Apparently Favre hasn’t called a single member of the Packers since it became apparent to him he wasn’t going to be welcomed back. Not the coach, not the players, not even Aaron Rodgers to wish him luck.
The guy is self-absorbed and it’s only now becoming apparent to many people.
If this is true, I guess the Packers won’t need to reschedule that Jersey retirement ceremony at Lambeau....

He still deserves to have his jersey retired, class or no class.
The rumor is Favre called the Lions and volunteered the information, talking to them for 1 and 1/2 hours.
They were kind of busy with that whole “training camp” thing.
Favre apparently has the time to talk to everyone from Darrell Bevell to the Detroit Lions roster to Tony Romo.
Sorry but if he pulled that classless stunt, let the Jets retire it. His number won’t deserve to be up at Lambeau next to Starr, Nitschke, Davis, Lambeau et al.
If true, it didn’t do any good. Cowboys got crushed by St Louis and Detroit hasn’t won a game yet. Hell, the Jets lost to the lowly Raiders this weekend.
With that track record, seems like he should be calling the Jets' upcoming opponent every week instead.
If true, when the Jet's play the Packers, he'll have other things to worry about absorbing.
ditto that. I think the back story is that favre turned into poison a long time ago, creating an extremely bad team environment.

With Aaron Rodger's quarterback rating going through the roof, I can see that they did.
I love the way Aaron has ingrained himself into the Packer mystique. He's a team player and it shows.

Yup. And I like the nickname the fans have given him,,,A-Rodge.
Favre has a pattern of game changing INTs thrown late in the game. Everyone writes them off as Favre going all out to win a game. I’ve seen so many of them that I concluded otherwise. Of course, I’m the paranoid one.
Since my relative has worked there Favre has never, ever showed up at a team fun function. He never talked, on a casual basis with any of the team, he had his own isolated locker room, and he had refused to be a mentor for Aaron Rogers. If you asked him a football question, he would walk right past you, but on the other hand, some of the staff are big hunters, and if Brett walked in on a conversation about that, he would sit and talk for hours.
To give Brett his due though, he found himself isolated by age, and culture from all of the younger players. All his team mates from the glory years had gone, and he just didn't have anything in common with the new guys.
But, to tell the truth, every time the media talked about what a team leader he was, my family just kind of chuckled, because nothing could be further from the truth.
I'm a Vikings fan so everything I say is totally unbiased :)
First, there is nothing wrong with Farve telling Tony Romo to suck it up and play. It's a shot in the arm for the NFL by making encouraging a franchise playing to stay in the game and give the fans what they pay for.
Second, Farve could have giving the entire Packer play-book, hand signals, and the frequency of the OB headset to Detroit, and it still wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of that game or in a series of downs for that matter. Detroit is that bad, and has always been the kicking boys of the Central Division. Third, if this stunt ends up keeping Farve out of the Hall of Fame, then the NFL is no better than MLB for keeping the 2nd greatest QB ever to play the game (Joe Kapp is the greatest) out of their hall of fame.

I can understand his being angry at the Packers coach and Ted Thompson for not wanting him back. But if this is true, he`s not only trying to stick it to them, but he`s sticking it to his former team mates and the Packer fans who supported him for all those years as well.
For three years, folks in Green Bay wondered whether Aaron Rodgers was any good. Favre could easily have said, "folks, if I go down with an injury, we're in good hands with Aaron." But he didn't. That says all I need to know.
Favre gave us many great seasons in Green Bay, but the retirement thing got very old and I'm glad he's gone.
