JERUSALEM Evidence has emerged that Sen. Barack Obama belonged to a socialist political party that sought to elect members to public office with the aim of moving the Democratic Party far leftward to ultimately form a new political party with a socialist agenda.
Several blogs, including Powerline, previously documented that while running for the Illinois state Senate in 1996 as a Democrat, Obama actively sought and received the endorsement of the socialist-oriented New Party, with some blogs claiming Obama was a member of the controversial party.
The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies.
Among New Party members was linguist and radical activist Noam Chomsky.
Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party.

Thanks for posting.
The coalition of collectives and their members will remain silent on any negative information on their chosen one. The negative information that gets amplified enough to resonate with voters will be deceptively twisted around or obfuscated by talking conmen. The collectivists designated thugs may attack the originator of the issue (witness Joe the plumber). Only in a rare occasion will the chosen one be required to reply with a convoluted non-answer. Depending on the effectiveness of the non-answer, the non-answer may or may not receive additonal amplification to deflect/obfuscate the issue.
Thanks for posting. BUMP-TO-THE-TRUTH!
Thanks for the ping from another thread that was locked and redirected here, Marvin. Yes I had already seen it.
Worth another BUMP-TO-THE-TRUTH!
Agreed. We on the Free Republic have been reading about this for at least several weeks. There seems to be enough evidence to pass anyone's sniff test.
How to do it? Well, this would probably go over many people's heads if presented in a 30 second commercial as fact. It needs to be linked to the Joe the Plumber theme. People are relating to Joe the Plumber and his story, so they are more willing to listen to the socialist ice berg beneath the "share the wealth" tip.
Thanks for the graphic.
Just curious how do we know this isn’t someone faking the New Party Paper? I’d hate to do a Dan Rather here, but would love for it to be true.
It is a definite possibility and I suspect that is why some of the right wing talk show hosts have not mentioned this. On the other hand, someone on the Free Republic got the New Party web site page from the 1990s that had this same information in it. The original web page has been expunged, but it does exist in at least two archives.
This news paper matches up exactly with the online version found at the New Party’s own website. It’s just a physical copy of what was already found. 0% chance of being a fake unless some one went back in time and altered what the New Party website said back in 1996-1998.
Look, this is from the archived New Party web-site:
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).

For outside corroboration one can get the Chicago DSA’s take on it from 1996 as well:
About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on local activities and to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates. The NP is being very active in organization building and politics. There are 300 members in Chicago. In order to build an organizational and financial base the NP is sponsoring house parties. Locally it has been successful both fiscally and in building a grassroots base. Nationwide it has resulted in 1000 people committed to monthly contributions. The NPs political strategy is to support progressive candidates in elections only if they have a concrete chance to win. This has resulted in a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.
The political entourage included Alderman Michael Chandler, William Delgado, chief of staff for State Rep Miguel del Valle, and spokespersons for State Sen. Alice Palmer, Sonya Sanchez, chief of staff for State Sen. Jesse Garcia, who is running for State Rep in Garcias District; and Barack Obama, chief of staff for State Sen. Alice Palmer. Obama is running for Palmers vacant seat. http://www.chicagodsa.org/ngarchive/ng42.html#anchor792932
THIS IS NOT FAKE :)
Thanks much for posting information from the archives!
Given the present crisis in the world markets, and the meltdown in middle-class American wealth, for this at best accidental American to take over the Executive Branch of our Government, could be very similar in effect to the Allende Government in Chile, leading to a counter-revolution, etc.. But there is no way to even count on an effective rising against an effort to impose a Socialist tyranny in America.
Conservatives need to fight this demagogue, but they need to do so with understanding. In an essay, posted a week ago, I tried to outline the issue that we cannot avoid, Congress & The Regulation Of Commerce. It is from a Constitutional perspective, and taps the wisdom that the framers' vision reflected.

That is great news. We need to combine both things into one email so that people don’t think Dan Rather is on the job.
Spend a little time on the Chicagodsa.org website and the archives of their New Ground magazine and you’ll see Obama actively involved for many years as a speaker, supporter and endorsed candidate of this scary organization. Do an advanced Google search of the New Ground magazine archives and you’ll find every instance of his involvement. There’s mention in the archives of a push to have Obama run against Bush in 2004. Here’s another one after his election to the state senate, where he ran unopposed (read: Chicago thugs ran everyone else off the ticket...) Note Obama encouraged New Party members to “join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration” where you just know he was urging these socialists to register Republicans to vote! LOL

The Chicago New Party is increasely becoming a viable political organization that can make a different in Chicago politics. It is crucial for a political organization to have a solid infrastructure and visible results in its political program. The New Party has continued to solidify this base.
First, in relation to its infrastructure, the NP’s membership has increased since January ‘95 from 225 to 440. National membership has increased from 5700 in December ‘95 to 7000. Currently the NP’s fiscal balance is $7,000 and receives an average of $450/month is sustainer donations.
Secondly, the NP’s ‘96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Danny Davis, winner in the 7th Congressional District, invited NPers to join his Campaign Steering Committee. Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in 7th Subcircuit Court, explained that due to the NP she was able to network and get experienced advice from progressives like Davis. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and
Voter Registration.
