When I was in St. Paul for the Republican Convention, more than a dozen people told me acolytes of Mitt Romney were feeding all the stories to the media portraying Palin in a negative light.
In fact, I heard that one of the biggest pushers of anti-Palin stories, including encouraging reporters to pursue the "Trooper-gate" story was Romney spokesman Kevin Madden.
I did not blog on it at the time because I perceived it to be people trying to finish off Romney. It likewise seemed clear to me that if this was going on, it was people loyal to Romney who were still hoping for his come back and not Romney himself.
These days it is hard to miss Kathleen Parker's savage attacks on Sarah Palin. She, along with several others listed here attacking Sarah Palin were also some of the first pundits in bed with the Romney campaign in 2007/8.
Again, it is hard for me to place the finger on Romney. It seems to me that these are people who are still convinced he's the better nominee and don't want Palin to be in any position to challenge him in 2012.

Palin .... 2012
He’s a well known troll.
Great, rumors.
Thank you for that information. I was just searching the Internet regarding Romney and Palin, and it appears as though he was publically supporting her. I would hope he’d be a bigger man and not undermine the McCain/Palin campaign.
All the time. In fact, he has been out campaigning for McCain/Palin and other conservative candidates non stop the past few months.
The rumors are from a few malcontents who fear a McCain loss and are trying to cut Mitt off from 2012. It's a shame people are so quick to believe gossip about others.
Well he also posted other stuff. I give him the benefit of the doubt. During election time we have always many new signups... and they are prone to vanities etc.

I have heard Gov. Romney on several shows praising Gov. Palin and it wasn’t faint praise, so sheath your knives and concentrate on the task at hand. Quit taking every line in every blog whether right or left as Gospel.
No benefit of the doubt.
No doubt.
Mitt has been a big supporter and campaigner for John McCain.. I have been a big supporter of Mitt. I just like Sarah a whole lot better and I am LDS. Mitt brings the Mass governor baggage to the table and that is a problem. He is brilliant and would probably make a great president but not likely now that the table is reset with some younger stars. I would have liked to see Mitt slice and dice the “one” on stage and have Obambi stutter off the platform.
When they say “Republican strategist” or “Romney surrogates” I get suspicious.
They could be anybody, saying anything.
That’s like calling any Freeper a “Robinson adviser.” =)
I think Mr. CEO who clearly hasn’t gone all out to deliver MI like he could have, has a track record of hired dirty tricksters, and as Mr. CEO, he has to be held accountable for it.
Also, if RedState is right about this going all the way back to the convention, it’s no wonder Sarah’s doing something to stand up to it. And the more they howl, the more effective I take her standing up to be.
Whatever happens this election, I’m standing with conservatives.
So Romney is out.
Palin/Jindal ‘12
Romney is slick. He’s said one thing while his hired minions have done another for quite some time.
He famously refused to say she was qualified during 2 interviews the same day about a week and a half ago. He is all about 2012 now. He is playing the odds. 50/50 shot McCain loses. Even if McCain wins, there is a good chance McCain doesn't finish the first term, or decides at 76 not to run again. So the odds are that there will be a GOP race in 2012. Gov Palin is his competitor at this point.
"You will embrace this rebellion. Support it, from our lands in
the north. I will gain English favor by condemning it and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south. Whichever way
the tide runs, we will rise."
Romney’s troops appear to be the Republican form of Obama’s Brownshirts.
This is just more of the kind of rumor-mongering designed to depress the faithful. Its not important. Everyone has an opinion, but only a lightweight talks about November 5 when November 4 is very much in play.
Victory is within reach. Worry about November 5 on November 5. If we have to rebuild, we’ll be looking toward the folks who were stalwart in battle; the ones who flaked on us or badmouthed us from behind the scenes will have no claim on leadership. I don’t really hold a grudge but I don’t forget either. We’ll remember who was with us and who wasn’t when we crossed the finish line.
Some of them are Paulistas, Illuminati’s, and various fringers, some are 100% troll. They all serve the same purpose though. We’ll see how often they post after Obama goes down in flames.
Wonder if some of those that have come after me on here for saying the same thing about Romney supporters undermining Sarah and leaking from the McCain campaign are going to still say it is all lies or is it all of the Republicans lying except some diehard Romneybots?
Romney can be assured that supporters from four campaigns will come after him if he raises his head to run — McCain/Rudy/Thompson/Huckabee!
What Romneybots have done to Sarah is unforgiveable.
