Vote is in for many Texans (More Dems voting - looks more like Operation Chaos)

AUSTIN — Early voting is big in Texas this year.

Ten days into this year's 12-day early voting period, 2.7 million people in the state's 15 largest counties had cast their ballots, compared with 1.7 million who had voted at the same point four years ago.

....Democrats are turning out in bigger numbers than Republicans in Harris County, according to one analysis. Early voting historically has been dominated by Republicans.

Leland Beatty, a Democratic consultant, said 42 percent of early voters had voted in Democratic primaries and 20.6 percent in Republican primaries.

Republican pollster Mike Baselice said he thinks Democratic early voting numbers are high because so many participated in the primary between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. He said some of those voters will vote Republican in the general election.

"Nobody should be that excited about the turnout this far," he said.

I live in Texas (an hour and a half from Houston) and I can tell you now, McCain will win Texas by 8-10 percentage points. Every Democrat I know who voted for Hillary in the Primary is voting for McCain. This week, a former Democratic County Chairman told me he has already voted for McCain.

In an earlier thread, I referred to early voting stats (thus far) as "Operation Chaos, Phase II". I believe it is a factor which is barely being mentioned by the media. Hannity commented on it recently, but very obliquely. The idiot Colmes just scoffed at the notion. We'll see.

If this turns out to be something that burns the Dems in battleground states, all the posters who were so scathingly critical of Operation Chaos here on FR (because that Obama guy hasn't got a chance...) will owe Limbaugh an apology.

The MSM wants to ignore anything that will keep them from depressing the McCain vote and from energizing the Left.

Is Lake Travis in Travis County?

Yes, it is in western Travis County, one of the areas in the country where there actually are Republicans.

Yep, and though Dallas proper is blue, the ring of towns in the surrounding metroplex are purple or red. I count about a 12 - 1 ratio in yard signs up in the Carrollton area, in favor of McCain. Thus far Obama has been winning the bumper sticker count, but in the past two weeks I'm seeing that trend reverse. Late-comers are always welcome, as long as they make it to the party by 11/4.

Through Wednesday, turnout in Republican dominated counties was running about 40%, mixed counties about 30%, and Democrat dominated counties about 20%.
