Castrating the Constitution: The Real Stakes in ‘08
The New Media Journal ^ | October 31, 2008 | Dr. Brian Melton

Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.” – Abraham Lincoln

Americans once went to war and risked everything over constitutional principles. They rebelled against the British Empire and declared their independence in 1776 because the British government would not honor the very rights granted to them in England's own constitution. Sadly, America is now poised to explicitly demote the Constitution they wrote to protect themselves into a document that functions almost exactly as its flawed predecessor did. In their criticism of and increasing disregard for the Constitution, Barack Obama and the modern Democratic Party are only formalizing a state of affairs that has existed in practical terms for almost 100 years. In short, America is preparing to admit openly that it has abandoned the very ideals behind Constitution itself. If we cross this proverbial Rubicon, we won’t return easily.

Barack Obama is supposedly a constitutional lawyer, but he seems either ignorant of what is in the constitution, or he simply doesn’t care what our founding document has to say about how our country is run. Most of his “change” would have to come in the form of constitutional amendments; not edicts dictated to a leftist legislative branch and supported by a pack of liberals in black robes.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Obama’s studies of the Constitution were made with a specific intent.....how to find the loopholes and the means to change the document’s meanings and morph it into a blueprint for social change.

the author needs to do some research before writing, England has never had (and still doesn't) have a constitution
