This is pathetic. Doug Kmiec, I remember when you came to my office at the Justice Department where at the time I was serving as associate deputy attorney general under Attorney General Ed Meese seeking an appointment. I remember processing your papers and sending them to the White House for political clearance.
I remember advocating for your appointment to a deputy assistant attorney general post in the Office of Legal Counsel and securing your appointment.
And from there, Doug, you became the acting assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel in the last days of the Reagan administration. You have now used your resume to give cover to perhaps the most radical and unqualified person to be nominated for president.
And your arguments on Obama's behalf have been nothing short of dishonest. I am extremely disappointed in you. But my guess is you've earned a judgeship should Obama win the presidency. Frankly, sometimes you think you know somebody when, in fact, you don't.
Kmiec
Isn’t he also the giving us that cr@p that he represents the huge amounts of “pro-abortion” Catholics who are all going en-masse to vote for Obama?
“Kmiec is a traitorous meal-mouth whoring toad.” TOADS everywhere are demanding an apology for being compared to this a**hole.
Being an extreme optimist, I fantasize that he might be hedging his bets that 0 wins, then get appointed and rule in a conservative manner.
The fact is, a lot of these so-called Reaganites (Kmiec, Noonan, Powell, Jim Webb, etc.) were nothing but political whores all along. Reagan was a powerhouse and they all wanted jobs in Washington. They never understood him, they never believed in him... they just wanted to be a part of something.
Elections like this are useful for the purpose of weeding them out. When this is over, never forget these hacks who worked to throw our country into the abyss and bastardized Reagan’s great name in the process.
Damn every last one of them.
I’ll bet twenty pieces of silver that, indeed, Kmiec is acting as he has lately in the hope of great reward. There is simply no other rational explanation — other than genuine mental illness — for Kmiec’s wholesale cashiering of the judicial and pro-life principles for which he DID eloquently stand until 2-3 years ago.
I have tried to find this out without resorting to simply asking, but what is being conveyed by posting “ping.”
... but for Wales?
kmiec climbed on the wrong campaign bus....his loss.
If you put someone else’s name in the To: line when you ping, it brings the thread to their attention.
I think the sad story of Kmiecâs defection has nothing to do with âbecoming a full-fledged liberalâ and everything to do with vanity and the seduction of evil. Kmiec was a Romney supporter and stood a good chance of being made a judge if Romney won. Once McCain got the nomination, Kmiec had to accept that the chances of his ever becoming a judge are very slim...unless he sucked up to the other side. Kmiecâs irrational support for Obama brings to mind the Bible story of the Devil spreading all the riches of the world at Jesusâ feet. Jesus, of course, resisted temptation; Kmiec has not. Obamaâs campaign has made good use of quislings like Kmiec, and Kmiec is obviously enjoying the attention. He should enjoy it while it lasts, because either McCain will win or Obama will win and forget about Kmiec. If Obama wins, dumps Kmiec, and signs the âFreedom of Choice Actâ, Kmiec will write a column about how he was fooled by Obama. No, Mr. Kmiec, you weren’t fooled by Obama; you were used by Obama, and your contrition is disingenuous and far too late.
Unfortunately, Mark Levin has been the exception rather than the rule in the republican party. It has been inundated with self-serving little RINO toadies like Kmiec. The NE country club types who have declared the era of Reagan over and who are all too eager to sell out both the nation and the American people for a good review in the NY Times. Besides, everybody knows you can’t get a decent claret at those redneck get togethers.
With some of the Republican Supreme Court appointees, who needs enemies making appointments!
It is unbelievable that Kmiec is the same man at this link: http://judiciary.house.gov/legacy/2187.htm
God bless you Mark for everything.

Romney operatives have been really busy the past few weeks, trying to sabotage McCain.
The rise of Governor Palin is a threat to the Mitt Romney political capital for 2012. Romney sycophants’ rabid attack strategy at FR had to be redirected into something, eh? You don’t sling garbage like ‘bigot’ and ‘mormon hater’ at fellow Freepers as mere political haggling.
BTTT
Cheers!
And speaking of "clarets", this expresses my feelings about all these RINOs and turncoats eloquently.
Cheers!
Them girls is BHOs...
I remember in the GWB administration Kmiec once wrote a piece about how he was being considered for a judicial position and how he felt unfairly targeted for his then conservative judical philosophy.
I asked a friend involved in judicial nominations if it was true that Kmiec was under consideration, and the response was only “well, that is what he said in the newspaper, isn’t it?”. In other words, if Kmiec had ever been up for consideration, he was no longer.
It’s a bizarre strategy that he chose. There is no reason why he could not have jumped on board to help McCain, just like Romney did. He could have been a team player. But he thinks he can get Obama to give him a judicial post, with all the conservative stuff he has said and written? Just b/c he endorsed a liberal in the general election? Good luck with that strategy, Kmiec.
