Obama aunt from Kenya living in US illegally

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Onyango's refusal to leave the country would represent an administrative, non-criminal violation of U.S. immigration law, meaning such cases are handled outside the criminal court system. Estimates vary, but many experts believe there are more than 10 million such immigrants in the United States.

The AP could not reach Onyango immediately for comment. No one answered the telephone number listed in her name late Friday. It was unclear why her request for asylum was rejected in 2004.

This story was broken by a reporter from The Times (UK). She told him she couldn't say anything until after election day.

Even IF he is elected he still can't become the prez until January 20th. Plenty of time to weed it out.

I’m sure money gets to Obama through all sorts of black radical “churches.”

However, I had a train of thought that led me to Kenya. I wonder about the relationship of Obama’s aunt to Obama’s cousin, the violent leftist thug and now co-president of Kenya, Raila Odinga. Since the entire Obama family in Kenya is heavily involved in left-wing politics, I would suspect that she came here during a time when Odinga had not quite whipped up his mob and it looked as if he would not be able to seize power. I think that would be about right if she got here 5 years ago.

But then Barry rediscovered his “roots” and began running to Kenya to help his cousin, Odinga, as he tried to steal the election throug thug violence and then used legal manipulation to get himself installed as “co president.”

In the meantime, the aunt’s petition for asylum had been turned down, either because she no longer needed it or because she was on the aggressor side, and Obama got his Boston friends to install her in public housing, get her on welfare (heck, she’s probably getting SSI), and give her a part-time “community organizer” job for some walking around money.

I’m wondering about her connections with Kenyan politics.

Obama’s family is Muslim, so kinship is complicated because of polygamy, but if Odinga is Obama’s cousin and this woman is his aunt, what is the relationship between Odinga and the aunt? (She’s probably not his mother, but there must be some relationship.)

I thought somebody probably got her on SSI, too. And since there’s a long wait for those federally subsidized apartments for the “elderly” (she would have been 52 at the time) and she got one after being here only a year, she was clearly jumped ahead of other people and there’s something funny going on.

I am thinking that this might change the mind of some people if the information can get out there. One of the hot buttons of people is illegal immigrants and the benefits we pay for ....add to that the Messiahs desire to give illegals benefits, drivers licenses, etc....and some views just might be changed to Mccain.

It is too late to find out if Obama helped her get public assistance but people should be wondering that, too.

You bet. Especially if instead of sponsoring her, he got her public assistance instead.

And just out of cuirosity, I wonder if this lady has been voting...

I am sure they did “help” her. She’s an illegal immigrant, but she has some kind of public assistance (Boston city welfare? Federal SSI?), federally funded public housing for the elderly (which she would have gotten at the age of 52, clearly jumping over the line of legal applicants),and a part-time a job as a community organizer.

This is getting weirder and weirder, and it screams corruption. I’m particularly impressed, judging by what I have seen of the time line, at how quickly they were able to do all this.

Furthermore, I want to know what the family connection was back there in Kenya. There’s got to be an Odinga connection here.

Consider that it was a UK paper that broke this story. That would be funny if it was the UK that gave us the straw that broke the Messiah’s back.

Of course, you can’t discount that Hillary could be giving out information behind the scenes...but she isn’t omnipotent. She doesn’t know everything...but then again...Clintons are masters at skulduggery.

Now our 'friend' in the White House has jumped in.

From yahoo news:

"Onyango's case — coming to light just days before the presidential election — led to an unusual nationwide directive within Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requiring any deportations prior to Tuesday's election to be approved at least at the level of ICE regional directors, the U.S. law enforcement official told the AP.

The unusual directive suggests that the Bush administration is sensitive to the political implications of Onyango's case coming to light so close to the election."

Her five illegal donations were small:

Federal Election Commission records show that Onyango donated at least five times to her nephew’s campaign in July and September. Three of the donations were for $5 each, and two of the donations were for $25. Records compiled by The Huffington Post show she gave a total of $260 to the campaign.
