How can the polls be so wrong? The Palin Effect, for one.
The American Sentinel ^ | 11/03/08 | Paul Zannucci

Much has been made in this election regarding the Bradley Effect, where pollsters are told by respondents that they intend to vote for the black candidate so that they don’t seem prejudiced, but then they end up voting for the white candidate on election day. Could there be a point or two here? Maybe, but there’s another “Effect” that people aren’t looking at.

What if there is a Palin Effect? What if there are women out there who don’t want to seem to be voting for McCain-Palin just because Palin is female, but who will show up and vote for Palin on election day? If this is happening at all, there is the potential for a monumental shift on election day.

Or....what if they hate the thought of a woman in that role...and vote AGAINST the ticket because of her...all things are possible at this point...

Speculation

How can the polls be so wrong?

1 palin effect
2 puma effect
3 media bias they are not reporting they are cheerleading
4 bradley effect (9% are not undecided, they are 4 mccain but don’t want to be called racist)
5 oversample of dems by as much as a 10 pt margin (because the pollster belive more will vote for the one, see also #3)
6 media is basing obama winning on a National poll results (obama could win more votes and lose)
7 many dems will vote for mccain (obama barely won the primaries)

The Palin-effect could be an under counting of likely voters because she is reaching people who in the past were not tuned in to politics.

The Palin-effect could be to bring out large numbers of individuals who in the past did not vote at all.

Presumably the pollsters would be disinclined to count as a likely voter an adult who has never voted before.

Interesting how pollsters are uniformly putting Obama past 50% now. Marist and FOX now have him comfortably ahead by 9 and 7 respectively.

And, suddenly, Zogby jumped Obama ahead by 14 in PA, just two days after Ras had the spread at 4.

Yeah, right.

I dunno. This all sounds like desperation and wishful thinking. I think it’s over.

I think a lot of that is resentment over the dims and msm types treatment of her.
Like her or not there has not been a sh#tstorm of abuse thrown at a candidate like this in living memory.
What these bozos have done is inadvertently stirred up, not just the pubby base, but a very large portion of middle America, alot of whom know a Sarah Palin in their own neighborhoods.
What we will see on 5 Nov is Mac and Sarah +10 and 40 states.

“I will definitely be glad when all this is over.”

To clarify — I mean when the process is over. If Obama wins, the darkness is just beginning.

Ah—they’re angry Hillary voters?

There are two retired guys from NYC living up here—diehard Hillary supporters. They HATE Obama and voted absentee for McCain!
