Big Voter Turnout in West Michigan!
11/04/2008 | truthingod

Big voter turnout early this morning in West Michigan. Voters began lining up at 6:00am with long lines forming quickly.

I drove by several voting precincts this morning and the parking lots are absolutely packed! West Michigan typically votes republican, but turnout will be a huge factor for Michigan--if only the unions did not reward their members with the day off to go and vote for the dem?

Happy voting to everyone!

My reddish precinct is so backed up I can’t get in. Have to go back later. Now, I usually vote about an hour later, so I’ll let you know. If all red precincts are coming out like this, it’s over now.

Lot of Dutch Reformed Church members in the west. My concern in Michigan is more the Detroit suburbs and the region between Detroit and Monroe.

There are hardly any unions left in Western Michigan...And since when do unions have any authority to give members a day off from their employers???

Here in the belly of the beast, the inner D.C. suburb of Arlington, VA, the lines at my location were absolutely staggering. The voting started at 6, and it was obvious that people had starting lining up at 5.

If the other polling places in NoVa are as crowded as that one, McCain is simply going to get wiped out here.

It would be awesome to see many union members using their day off to vote Republican! Of course we’ll never know it, for the same reason that we never really know how people are planning to vote, due to the thuggish pressure put on them. But anecdotally, we’ll know.

Are we talking Grand Rapids area or Benton Harbor? I agree, though, if Western MI turns out that's generally a good sign for us (I grew up in Niles, MI, near South Bend, IN).

I’m going to vote later this morning when the crowds thin out. We’re going to get out the vote here in Michigan for McCain and do our best to overtake Barry’s graveyard bodies and Acorn nuts in Detroit.

In Michigan, the typical dem strongholds have been places like the City of Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and then the counties of Monroe, Oakland, Wayne, etc. You will find the republican voter in the more suburbian areas and rural areas. Places like Ottawa county went almost 90+% republican last couple of elections. Kent county went republican except for the city of Grand Rapids proper.
