Yes I went and voted today. For the first time in my life, I voted for a straight republican ticket. On the way to the polls I kept asking myself if I could vote for Obama as I have always been a Democrat. Could I be loyal to the Democrat party. When I sat down and looked at that ballot, I realized that I had no choice but to vote for the republicans. After I turned in my ballot and left the polling place, I got sick at my stomach. I realized that I was no longer a Democrat but now a Republican. This goes against everything that I have stood for all my life. Yes today was the saddest day of my life. It was like leaving home for the 1st and last time, I cut the strings that attached me to the Democrat party. I am hoping for a McCain victory, but if it does not happen, then I am content with my decision. God Save America

As a conservative, I voted against Obama, and voted for Sarah.
If I had the choice, I would have voted for Zell Miller, rather than McCain.

I just wanted to say thanks for voting your conscience. You and I may not see eye to eye on every issue, but I respect a person who asks questions and takes action when they can no longer accept what their party is doing. You are not alone in that.

Don’t feel bad about your decision. The democrats of days gone by were far more kin to today’s republicans than the nation haters of today’s party. My dad was a democrat all of his life and even though he has been gone since 1999, I’m sure he is still voting democrat by proxy. At least you had the choice to vote for your choice.

I appreciate your comments. The folks here try not to compare people to Hitler very often, because it can minimize what Hitler was and did.
When it comes to Obama, I must say that I have never seen a person so poised to become the next Hitler.
He is not that caliber yet, but he shows every warning sign there is.

I, too, was a lifelong Dem: cast my first vote for Carter, and my last Dem vote for Clinton. My first (R) vote was for Bush in 2000, and I don’t regret that decision a bit.
We are still classical liberals, and most of the people who think similarly vote Republican. The left has stolen the word “liberal.” I am a conservative/classical liberal, not a Republican. But I vote Republican, because that’s the only way I know that our liberties will be respected.
According to William Safire, the term "liberalism" was hijacked by socialists in the 1920s. Before that, the term meant pretty much the opposite of what we now associate with the term. And even afterward, the term's meaning did not change anywhere but in America. My daughter was in Venezuela years ago, and came back remarking on the fact that ther the term "liberalism" meant exactly what I myself advocate - rather than what I systematically oppose.

I don’t mean to say that Obama is or is going to be a Hitler, I just see some disturbing parallels regarding Obama’s and Hitler’s rise to power and the circumstances that created “the one”.
I am truly frightened at the similarities between Hitler Youth and Obama’s “cicilian security force”.
If you want an illustration of how the Obama supporters behaved towards Hillary supporters during the primaries I implore you to watch the videos of the Black Panthers in Philly. It is a perfect example of their cult like mentality.
They truly believe that that cause is righteous and that they will acheive their goal of selecting Obama, whether by hook or by crook. If you do not submit you will be called a racist and they will follow Obama’s instruction to “get in your faces”.
We had a couple of these at the caucases that would walk around saying they were precinct captains and that they “were in charge”. Much like the guy in the video said he was “security”.
If you really want to know why us PUMA’s are so passionately voting for McCain you only have to look at the video and imagine that multipled by 10. Obama thugs acting this way, against other democrats. Not towards the other party.

We have no doubt. That's why gun sales are up so much. If you peruse FR a little more, many people are worried about what obama will do to us.

The Black Panthers have been a criminal enterprise since the 60s, perhaps early 70s. You won’t have to tell anyone who has been around a while what they are capable of, or are willing to do.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reinforce the message when you have the opportunity.

I think many of us felt sick to the stomach today. I voted for mclame ONLY because of Sarah Palin.
Not sure I could have voted for him otherwise. Hopefully, MI will surprise me for once and go red.
My youth was spent in S Arkansas where my family was Yellow Dog Democrat, the Republican party was the party of non-racists and extremely unpopular there. Ike, Little Rock, Faubus and all.
Then I veared far Left, studied Marxian economics and actually know these Weather scumbags having run with them on occasion. But after growing up and getting married I turned back right. Now am far right when it comes to National security less so on other issues.
Since you say you are a Democrat I urge you to study the history of the party. It has from its inception been associated with corruption particularly in the big city machines. See “Gangs of New York” for a very accurate demonstration of the voter fraud and intimidation they used at all times. As bad as the fraud by ACORN and others is today. It pales in comparision to that in the 1800s in the cities when there was no secret ballot. Hence, the wrong vote could result in beating or death.
Look at the birth of the GOP and the noble aims it was founded for in opposition to those of the great majority of the Democrat party.
Since you profess admiration for Hillary you should check out the various articles about her here. Most of us despise her and, of course, some of the things said are false but there is enough info that is true that should change an objective mind.
I know this all too well. My father was a die-hard Union Democrat before he retired, my mother was a life long Democrat and my older brother voted for a lot of Democrats in the past and I voted for Al Gore in 2000. Today, we all voted for McCain.
