Make the mistake ? Their flag waving for tyranny is about as subtle as hitting a mosquito with a thermonuclear bomb. Damn the pigs. Damn them all to hell.

Hillary would have kicked McCain's a** by double digits. The popular vote is going to be much closer then the “polls” predicted. But Rush is the last person to be blamed for this. Rush will be a leader of the revolution.

McCain lost because the GOP lost it's way. Period. They deserved getting this a** kicking. Let's just pray our nation isn't permanently destroyed in the process.

GET BACK TO CONSERVATIVISM.

At least the RINO’s were given their comeuppance.

Sarah in 2010!!

Next time try nominating a conservative who is not afraid to say the name “Ronald Reagan”. Then you won’t have this outcome.

Pure sophistry, and childish blame-shifting at that.

The American people chose a Marxist. Period. They either knew or had every opportunity to know everything they needed to know to understand that, by voting for Obama, they would be electing a Marxist.

NO OPPONENT, of any Republican or conservative stripe, is even relevant to the question of whether Americans will vote for a Marxist. The Obama voters are without excuse.

What you are saying is "if only McCain had done this, that or the other"---AS IF it's necessary to present some alternate rationales as to why Americans should not vote for a Marxist. AS IF the burden is on the opposition to convince Americans not to vote for Marxists.

It isn't. It is, or should be, enough that the candidate Obama is who he is. Even if it were "Marxist" v. "Any Republican," there is no excuse for turning our backs on our founding principles.

As I posted previously, this one is 100% on the American people.

Even if McCain had never lifted a finger to get his message out, there was AMPLE information available to anyone who cared to know that Obama is a radical with very questionable associations and tactics.

Reagan once said something about not speaking ill of a fellow Republican. The "conservatives" who mouth Reagan and fail to walk the walk are brothers and sisters in arms with Obama.

You're obviously referring to John McCain himself...

Thanks for the most thoughtful post on this thread.

I also feel that if there is any blame to go around, it belongs squarely on the American voter.

Thanks for saying it with class, too. After all, this is Free Republic, not the DU of the HuffPost.

“Dobson especially. A Christian called for a Mormon over McCain?”

Yeah, McCain lost because Dobson **gasp** wanted Romney (who would have won tonight) over McCain in the primarys. Are you even serious or did you forget the sarcasm tag.

Thank you for voting conservative. But do all of us that aren’t biggots and stop speaking publicly. You embarass yourself.

Don't be so obtuse.

It refers to those who bashed McCain and even vowed they'd not vote for him, thereby supporting, de facto, Obama.

I have a clear conscience.

Those who felt McCain wasn't genuine enough did their part to elect an Obama. They were Lenin's 'useful idiots'.

Sorry, that BS just isn't going to fly.

The vast majority of the right swallowed our pride and ended up solidly behind the candidate.

It was that mushy middle that McCain spent so much time wooing that went head over heels for the Messiah. The result is a Republican party without even a tent, let alone a big tent.

You’re delusional. The lion share of fault goes to that drunk-on-shore-leave-sailor-fool Bush. He has single handedly destroyed whatever was thought to be small government conservatism. It’ll take a long long time to recover.

Thank you for your kind words.

We need to quit looking to the RNC for a Savior and realize the real problem we face is ignorance and the fact that, although Rush likes to say this and I hate to disagree with him, the delusion that “conservatism works every time it’s tried.”

Whether that’s true or not, is not my point. My point is that that mantra leads too many to think that the “fix” is simple-—just get a more conservative candidate (by whatever standard on applies), run a more conservative campaign (however that is measured), advance more conservative ideas (by someone’s definition) . . . then everything will be right with the world and we will win every time.

Again, that’s simply not true, and the delusion that it is leads to much wasted effort and heartache.

Before we can stop being at the mercy of history, we have several major myths to bust. Such as: the Rats are better on the economy and are for the “little guy;” corporations are evil and so are rich people; etc.

Wait-—I see Pelosi and Reid are speaking in Washington now. Pardon me now while I go bard.

You are exactly right. And, I will never compromise my conservative positions again for any RINO, Centrist, Independent or any other form of middle of the road BS.

Can’t believe the Kool-Aide drinkers on this forum. Forget your principles and you end up in the garbage heap with the rest of the trash.

God Bless Sarah Palin and all true Conservative Americans.

Don't be a crybaby. McCain was a lousy candidate. He had very few core principles and the only saving virtues he had were that he was pro-life and strong on defense. Apparently that wasn't enough. Having the unqualified support of buffoons like George Will, Peggy Noonan and Ron Paul would not have added more than 3 votes to the overall total.

Time to regroup and reload. Also it might be a good idea to load up on bottled water and ammunition.

I have a clear conscience.

As do I...

McCain is only reaping what he himself has sowed...he has made a career, and even bragged extensively about it, out of spitting in the face of conservatives all whilst stabbing them in the back. He has but himself to blame for this apparent catastrophe.

I just completely messed up another post I was writing because I saw out of the corner of my eye that Reid and Pelosi were already giving victory speeches in Washington.

So it begins.

You’re absolutely right. Bush is the “thank you sir, may I have another” president. He lets the Rats whack him and every time they do, he just smiles and lets them do it again.

I agree, P-M. McCain was off target far too often to make this a winning race. The truth is that he was disorganized after he won the nomination. Part of that might have been lack of cash, but he sure had a lot of cash.

I didn’t shoot at McCain once he picked Palin. I’ve pulled for him pretty consistently all the way through.

He’s a great American. I honor his time in Vietnam. He SHOULD have used it more.

John McCain refused to make traditional conservative issues a basis for his campaign. He’s prolife and it never came up.

He never ONCE interviewed with Brit Hume or O’Reilly. He threw Palin to Gibson and Couric AND allowed them to edit. His team was weak dealing with the media.

The economic crisis hit and he wouldn’t blame Democrats.

He wouldn’t hit Obama’s associations.

I could go on and on. He talked about: (1) not raising taxes, and (2) win the war. Just appetizers. He never brought out the main course and the dessert.

We are letting in too many third world immigrants to this nation and they often vote socialist. Almost all the major cities are full of them and they influence greatly the vote. Add in the idiot American born leftists, a little voter fraud and its a big problem now in the elections.

You are right again when you say “the real problem we face is ignorance”.

In this era of rapid communication and the so-called information age, there isn’t much excuse for uninformed voters. Rather, we have seen the cult of personality, the image-makers, the psy-ops that have been successfully sold to a large portion of the voters who didn’t take the time or effort to be better informed.

Maybe it was just easier to buy the image than to look at facts.

Based on your handle, I assume you are a lawyer. I too am a lawyer and view the American electorate in the same manner as a jury. Every time I hear a losing attorney blame the ignorance of the jury, it sickens me. It is the lawyer's job to educate the jury. If they bring back a wrong verdict, its is the lawyer who failed. It is no different in a campaign. It is the candidates job to educate the electorate. If the electorate made a bad decision, the blame is squarely at the feet of the losing candidate.
