The majority of Americans WANT Socialism. They don't know it's called Socialism. The majority of Americans don't even know what Socialism is.
To most Americans, "free" health care, "free" housing, "free" food, are wonderful things. To most Americans, it is a relief to give away the burden of these responsibilities to a government that will take care of them. It is just plain easier.
In another time, this was called "slavery." While once thought of as distasteful, it appears that it has come back into fashion. 60,000,000 American voters crawled into the voting booths, and volunteered to become wards of the State - the new "master." The liberal's dream of a nation of serfs, ruled over by the political elite, is one giant leap forward.
Of course, these same Americans have utterly no understanding that giving away these responsibilities also means giving away liberty. It's just so bothersome to think of. Besides, the next season of American Idol starts soon. Isn't it just so much nicer to sit and watch the funny people on the TV? Besides, all the talk about liberty just makes them sleepy.
Obama's agenda is 100% unstoppable. The majority party has but to point at any defiant senator and say, "racist". That, combined with the investigation of the MSM into the "racist" senator will cause immediate compliance.
No generation that lost their liberty - or in our case, gave it away - lived to see it again.

I disagree. If he was white with the same policies and associations, he wouldn’t have won.

When we redefined free speech as unlimited access to pornography and gave up the right to free political speech it was all over. Don’t expect to have your political views aired in public anymore. Talk radio and the internet are the last repositories of free political speech and those will be at the top of the Dems agenda.
The electorial map was colored, almost to the state, the same as the clinton Dole map.

They might eventually figure out that if you have a job, that “free” stuff means that you pay for your “free” stuff and others free stuff too. That the government doesn’t produce anything and that in order for government to “give” people stuff it comes from other people who earned it. It never ever really comes from “government”. Government is only the broker in the deal - by force of law - and they get their cut along the way.
Stupid people deserve the consequences.

I know a woman at work who voted for Obama (she was the only one in our work force.) She likes the idea of all of Obama’s free stuff, tax cuts, etc.
What she doesn’t realize is she’s shooting herself in the foot, so to speak. Our employer provides “free” health benefits, we pay no part of the premiums. In talks with the front office I’ve learned that if nationalized healthcare goes through, the company will most likely drop the “good, expensive” healthcare plan we now have and go wtih the cheaper nationalized version. Why wouldn’t they? When that happens and this lady gets inferior healthcare, it will still be free, but it will not be anywhere equal to what we get now for the $1,000 per month our employer pays (per employee) to insure us.
People are too short-sighted. If the tax cuts go through, this woman or other employees might not even have a job because employment might be cut (the business files as an s-corp and income is above $250,000.)

In 2 to 4 years when this man turns this country into a socialist welfare state, down-grades the military and cuts defense weapons programs and energy costs skyrocket, the idiot who pulled the lever for this guy better not complain because they got the government they wanted.

The majority does not want socialism, but conservatives need to do a much better job of (1) explaining why socialism is undesirable, and (2) providing candidates for public office that the public can and should admire.
Yesterday, before voting, I took my first born to the DMV to get her learner’s permit. I pointed out to her to notice how grimy the place was; how surly and unhelpful the workers were; how poor the service was. We arrived early and were the fourth in line. An hour and a half later, we were done. It took them roughly 20 minutes to deal with one taxpayer and they were only set up to deal with one at a time.
I told my daughter to really let that sink in. For all those people who think the government should provide us with things, let them spend a morning at the DMV. This is what going to the doctor is going to be like.
I weep for this country and my children’s future.
