It would be more worthwhile to push for an identity system in which we’ll be able to know who *everyone* living in the US really is. Obama’s case is just symptomatic of the much bigger problem.
I can only imagine the uproar if it turned out he was ineligible but the preserving Constitution is more important.
Biden isn't charismatic and has made a lot of foolish political mistakes on the campaign trail.
Obama has a chance of pulling off a popular first term with the help of the media spinning everything his way. Biden is far more likely to look like an incompetent fool that can't get the things done that those who sent him there want done.
Democrats control the White House and both houses of congress. They gained that power by blaming everything bad that happened on Bush. Now, they have no one else to blame. However, Obama has a far better chance of spinning things, or even saying he got a slow start fixing things but things will get better than Biden has.
Neither are going to push policies we like, but Obama likely has a better change of pushing them through, and Biden has the better chance of giving us back the White House and a lot of congressional seats.
Maybe they think the Constitution doesn't matter either.
One (potential) thing in our favor. It’s impossible to take a teleprompter everywhere you go.
I'm sure the press corps will hold up cue cards for him if they need to do so.
Indeed he is lol
I hope the electors don’t lose courage. Think of the Black Panthers yesterday. Obama will only be emboldened by yesterday.
It's not about the immediate outcome. It's about whether we remain a constitutional republic under our U.S. Constitution. If citizens don't have standing to defend it, we must realize we have already been thrown under the bus. There must be some group who can achieve standing. We should back them, even if it means Nancy Pelosi as President, for the sake of the long-term survival of our interests.
Wait till you read the whole thread! *eyes spinning like pinwheels*

I know.
“But after last nights drubbing I am more concerned about how/why we lost the American people.”
To me that isn’t a wonder. Bush was an idiot of a choice. His only focus was the Iraqi war. Even during the financial crisis we are going through he has said very little. There has been no leadership from Bush or the Republican party. Domestic issues have been practically nonexistent. I heard one Republican after another tell me they were voting for Obama as a protest vote against the RINO Republicans. I voted McCain while holding my nose.
Godspeed.
So, the Constitution is now a “technicality”?!
if people are not willing to stand up to protect the constitution - it looks like we are headed that way.
Government is more concerned with self protection (re-election and increasing government power) than with the constraints accompanying the vehicles through which it was delegated power.
Joe Biden was runnign as Vice-President, so is ineligible to be selected as President.
Read the Twelvth Amendment:
The electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;--The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;--the person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President.
But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in the case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President.
The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
The Electors for each State meet in their state to vote, and if they don't care about suffering the penalty under state law regarding 'faitless electors,' can vote for Mickey Mouse if they so choose. You will notice that in the Twelvth Amendment there is no requirement that the Electors choose from those on the general election ballot. The only restriction is if nobody gets 270 Electoral Votes, then the House can only choose from among the top three Electoral Vote getters.
When you factor in state Elector laws, Obama votes will most likely go to Biden, not McCain, Palin, or Mickey. Or maybe Hitlery if she can pull enough strings.
But I cannot ever imagine an Elector that was pledged to Obama ever voting for McCain.
FReeper CongressmanBillyBob has stated on other posts that he is confident he could draft a case so that the court does not blow it out of the water.
Do you understand that the USA is NOT a democracy? We are a Constitutional Republic. While we vote to elect our representatives, we are still a nation of LAWS and the Constitution is the law of the land. Our forefathers wrote the Constitution to protect us from a full democracy, of what amounts to mob rule.
So it really doesn’t matter that 7 million more people chose that idiot, it DOES matter if he and the DNC broke the law.
