Boycott of FOX
Vanity | 11-06-08 | Veritas 2002

Posted on 11/06/2008 10:07:54 AM PST by veritas2002

I propose that we punish the FOX Network for its hatchet job on Sarah Palin.

For one week beginning at 3:00 PM today no one tunes them in. We will demonstrate the power of conservatives when their ratings plummet dramatically.

Will you join me?

No more FNC for us, except maybe five minutes of Cavuto.

I stopped watching FoxNews a week ago already.

If Ailes kicks out a few insufferable employees....
- Carl Cameron
- Nina Easton
- Shep Smith
- Gerry Ferraro

...I might start watching again.

"And while your at it, please tell O'Riley, Sean, and the rest to let their damn guests finish answering the questions they ask"

Oh please I'm sick of that kind of journalism. If a guest is lying or spinning, INTERRUPT THEM. They have no duty to let someone spread lies on their network.

If they do it the way you suggested, journalists might as well just tape record their questions, play them one by one, hit stop when the question finishes, and sit there like a knot on a log.

I was referring specifically to TV. I always use the sites you listed.

Re: Command Decision with Clark Gable

Good old Turner Class Movies!

It has always bothered me that in Command Decision they have a model of an Me-262 German Jet Fighter made up, but in the film they call it a "Landswolf" something or other!

Otherwise, a great film with excellent writing and acting all the way around.

I fear some of the dialog may show how things are to some in the future in stopping Iran getting nuclear weapons. Below, think nObama for Kane and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for Dennis:

Maj. Gen. Roland Goodlaw Kane: Casey, this may pull down the work of twenty years. All right, let's have it.

Brig. Gen. K.C. 'Casey' Dennis: The day after you left, sir, weather conference gave us a clear break over Central and Northeast Germany 44 days running. There was a chance to do the job, possibly the last one, so I laid on 'Stitch.'

Maj. Gen. Roland Goodlaw Kane: Regardless of the fact that you might be upsetting the larger picture .

Brig. Gen. K.C. 'Casey' Dennis: Larger than what, sir? The outcome of the war?

You’re right.

I think the best plan is to target the advertisers. Since it’s hard to keep track of all the advertisers, I’d start with the biggest advertiser and work my way down the list. First we’d need links to the advertiser’s email, so we can send them an email and explain why we are not supporting them. Then we need to make good on the threat. But why just FOX? Surely the rest of them deserve even greater scorn. I’d target any business that advertises on any biased news show. I think that would be all of them, as far as I can tell.

i’ve been advocating a boycott of FOX News Channel all week... we must boycott all of the shows on FNC... and not just for one day... and no checking in at FNC to see what’s going on... make it a real boycott...

Gee...I'm sorry. I thought people were allowed to put their own opinions on FR...not just YOUR opinions.

I certainly didn't mean to make you get your panties in a wad...I certainly hope you'll forgive me, oh knowledgeable one.

i meant it needs to be longer than one week... why go back to them? not only did they treat Sarah shabbily... they did a disservice to our country and to their faithful conservative audience (us) when they let Obama’s lies go unanswered... they did nothing to expose him... the Fox News Panel with Brit Hume all sat around praising Obama after each debate... that is when i watched Brit Hume for the last time... he was the only reason i had any connection to FNC...

I do not watch tv at all. Haven’t had a tv in my house for over 10 years. I really don’t miss it. I also haven’t bought a paper in that long a time. All my news is from the internet and talk radio.

Personally, I view Fox as the Fox in sheeps clothing. I can’t believe they are behind this, but I really think MSNBC should be the first target. That place is nothing but pure hatred. There is nothing redeeming there at all. We need a few people who are good at organizing things.

We can use some volunteers to actually watch MSNBC, especially the shows they run from 6pm to 10pm and write down the names of every company that advertises there. I know there won’t be many people raising their hands to do that. We need others to find ways to contact these companies and we need somewhere to put this information so everyone can find it and launch an all out attack. We need others to pass the information around to other pro Palin sites and supporters to get as many people involved as possible. Then we actually have to send the emails, make the calls and write the letters. Every day for as long as it takes for something to happen. When it does, we move to the next one and the next one.

Boycotts can work with newspapers and magazines. Of course boycotting something you don’t read or buy isn’t going to do anything.I don’t think US magazine has bashed Sarah since that stupid issue they ran a couple of months back.

If someone out there can set up a website or blog to get the ball rolling, count me in as far as helping out.

Of course I expect the usual negative responses, but if you don’t want to help, don’t but don’t belittle or discourage those who do.

The only reason I voted this year was because Palin was on the ticket. Fred was my man.

You speak for me as well.

"I'll tune in to most of the FOX shows, but I'm done with Brit. "

Bingo, and I loved him the most. WTF happened to him? He was actually skeptical until election night. I expected Koolaid drinking crap from Juan Williams (he ripped on Palin constantly), but Nina Easton ought to know better (hmm... her hubby supported Romney, and it's the Romney bots crapping on Palin... interesting).

Why don’t you send her something useful, like a subscription to the Economist or the Wall St. Journal, or something?

I didn't say you didn't have a right to air your opinion, I disagreed with it, and passionately wrote as much.

I could occasionally watch MSNBC after 6. It’s often on at work. I can work late and take time to check on who is advertising. They have ads on their website, too. AARP was the biggest one I saw.

While there, I see a banner that says “Not just conservative news” HA! A better slogan would be “Not ANY conservative news” Who are they trying to kid???? Is that their real slogan or is that something new? I never watch except when I happen to walk by at work.
