The race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. John Doolittle has tightened, with Republican Tom McClintock holding on to a 291-vote lead districtwide.
With about 40,000 ballots that remain to be counted in the 4th Congressional District, Republican Tom McClintock is asking for volunteers to observe the count in county elections offices throughout northeastern California.
The process of counting the remaining votes could take several weeks, and the Democrats are bringing people in from around the state and nation, McClintock wrote in an e-mail to supporters today.
We need additional volunteers to help staff the office and monitor the vote-counting process. If you can help, please call our headquarters at 916-783-4411.
The congressional district includes Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Sierra, Plumas and Modoc counties and parts of Sacramento and Butte counties.
Democratic candidate Charlie Brown took Nevada, Plumas and Sierra counties in preliminary tallies by the secretary of state's office, with McClintock leading in the other counties.
Is there any race the Dems haven’t found mysterious amounts of votes only for the Dem candidate?
McClintock, Coleman, I’m surprised they didn’t try this hear with McConnell. But then again, most of ‘em knew they’d be run out of my state!!!
That sucks. Looks like Tom will get screwed too. Just ask Mr.Rossi in Washington state. The RATS keep counting until their guy comes out on top.
I think Tom will pull it out.
I hope like heck they bring observers in (lots of them) to check the recount in Minnehaha between Coleman and Smalley.
Stay on them Tom and don't take any crap!
Actually Tom has been slowly widening his lead, from 451 on election night to 709 on Thursday to 889 today. He's not out of the woods yet, but the trend is very encouraging.
He's LOST running for State Controller TWICE, for Governor ONCE, and for Lt. Governor ONCE.
That’s somewhat encouraging.
Don’t forget the RINOs. They hate Tom more than self-declared Democrats do, that’s why this race is so close.
Yup, a rodent SoS.
BTTT
Its a very good idea, as we have seen votes recounted and recounted until the desired side wins.
Wish I lived up there! I’d volunteer in a heartbeat to monitor those votes.
He's LOST running for State Controller TWICE, for Governor ONCE, and for Lt. Governor ONCE.
It's a midnight blue state. What do you want?
