I thought she died the Monday before the election. Whatever. It was more important to have his party and be on Oprah before honoring his dead, typical white grandmother.

Did his grandmother die two days before the election? I don’t think that is correct.
I suppose now that he is done celebrating it’s time for the white Granny to be acknowledged.
Too bad Michele and the kiddies never said goodbye to her while she was still with us.

She died the day before the election (Monday November 3rd).
I think it was announced then, but, actually happened Sunday Hawaii time.
My father died on a Sunday, and we buried him the Staurday after that (6 days). We did have a 3 day viewing, and a brother in Taiwan to deal with, but it was the longest I’ve known anyone I’ve known to wait.
They left it off only in the title which is odd.
His grandmother’s funeral arrangements are family business and no-one else although I would think they would set up something for “in lieu of flowers” because I imagine some people would want to do something.
“Aides said the Democratic nominee learned of her death about 8 a.m. Eastern time(Monday) and that she passed at her home in Honolulu between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Eastern time.”
My mistake apparently they did when the death announcement was made:
“In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer.”
Honolulu is 5 hours behind ET, fwiw.
I thought she was buried already and he was planning a memorial service for her.
So I suppose it could have still been Sunday but even in Obama’s statements he said Monday.
It doesn’t really matter I guess. I am surprised they’ve waited this long to bury her, by the time arrangements are made and he goes out there it’ll be a few more days. He could have taken care of that last week. All the “President-elect” stuff could have waited a few days.
Its always about the narcissist.
Pretty much the same schedule he has had for years. Do nothing but give big speeches.
And was one of the most important people in his life? I’m comforted as to how he will treat the rest of us...NOT!
I’m from the New Orleans area, and back in the 70s when Mahalia Jackson died, they didn’t bury her for 3 weeks! I don’t remember if it was summer or winter that she died, but we have pretty warm winters down here.
My brother died on a Sunday morning. Viewing Monday night. Burial Tuesday morning. We considered the occasion important enough to change our schedules.
I'm a big believer in scheduling these things so out-of-town family can attend. But Obama and family should have been on the plane Wednesday headed to Hawaii. It's not like he doesn't have staff that could have set it all up for him.
Or at least bury the poor woman in a timely manner and then he can hold a memorial service next year when it's a more convenient time. {sarcasm off}
