An Escambia County couple died Saturday after an argument over the Alabama/LSU football game ended in shotgun blasts, according to Conecuh County authorities.
District Attorney Tommy Chapman identified the people killed as Dennis and Donna Smith of Appleton Road near Brewton.
The shooting allegedly occurred about 7 p.m. at the home of Michael Williams near the Owassa community in Conecuh County, Chapman said.

I’d like to say 2 of them won’t vote any longer... but they are likely Dems, and we all know Dems vote long after they’re dead.

I guess the SEC really does take its football seriously. You betcha. The 15 years I spent living in SEC country (Georgia and Tennessee) taught me there is no other sport than SEC football. Well, maybe you could mention that a particular NASCAR driver was a fan of one of those teams...

Whoa...SEC football and redneck trailer park televised games. Bad mixture! Some things just don’t go together: Tunafish and jelly sandwich, Pamela Anderson and chastity, neck and tattoo, ... it’s like ike trying to blend an Obama voter with a ‘Bama fan.

I believe this is one of the few Bama counties that isn’t dry. So if they had just allowed the Baptists to fix things...alcohol would never have touched their lips and created this situation (so my minister would say).

I Hope messiah 0bama doesn’t get wind of this. He might move to ban shotguns in the hands of sports fans that have been known to indulge in adult libations...

Smith retrieved a pistol from his vehicle, and threatened Williams, who armed himself with a shotgun and fired two blasts, striking and killing Dennis Smith, officers said. Donna Smith then threatened Williams, who shot and killed the woman, they said.
That definitely wasn't the best of ideas, Donna.

I spent four decades next door in MS, most of that time an avid Ole Miss fan. I learned long long ago that you can’t even joke with a hardcore Bama football fan in the aftermath of anything that didn’t go their way. True fanaticism. Oh, and this isn’t the first time there have been shootings in the aftermath. I’m almost positive that a father and son shot each other after a Bama loss in the past few years.

Over a football gameIt's more than a football game. It's heritage, it's finances, it's family, it's religion. Down here brides don't get married unless it is a bye week. Funerals are held on days other than Saturday. Sermons are preached about football games. Football is life. Wait 'til the last Saturday in November. This state is divided up and down. The RATS are on the west and the good guys are on the east. It is the way it is.

The cartoonist H. Payne did a cartoon recently (Oct. 23) showing a man and his wife walking up to the door of a house with a big M flag outside the door. The man has MSU on his sweatshirt (so obviously Michigan and Michigan State--Payne's cartoons appear in the Detroit newspaper). The woman is saying, "Remember, talk about religion or politics--but
NO football!"
(Found on the HenryPayne.com website)
To: reevee69
reevee69...some posts flirt with being insensitive, but you must understand that people are simply mocking the fact that these idiots took up ARMS over a freaking FOOTBALL GAME! Now these people deserve some criticism if you ask me. While sad that people died over such an imbecilic argument, it is nonetheless inherently moronic of them to have elevated it to the point they had.

Yeah, that's what I don't understand. What did he have to get angry about?
Guess it's a combination of alcohol and ass-holery. But, as I read it, the LSU fan pulled the first gun.
Jesus, it's just a game. I'm a Bama fan, myself, but to shoot someone for that! It makes me ashamed.

I am a Bama fan and am not ashamed in the least. Every team’s fanbase has a few whackjobs. However, the media will characterize all Bama fans as like this to slam a team from a hardcore Red State at each and every opportunity.
Unless you pulled the trigger, no Bama fan should be ashamed or guilty of anything. Idiotic Liberal White guilt is what got us Obama.

I would love to know how the DA is getting two murder charges out of this.
I think he has his work cut for him to convince a jury of murder from what sounds like a pair of justifiable homicides.
