I love to see you grapple with trying to explain this woman and her thought processes. You are Tcs2 missing something obvious though. She believes in the literal truth of the Bible. She believes it informs on matters of science, biology, evolution, physics, cosmology, etc. So if there are multiple creation versions in the Bible what do you do, make up your own reality. If there are contradictions in it, ignore them. Just like you ignore inconvenient facts about day-to-day life.
If you BELIEVE the bible is the literal inerrant word of God what do you do? Well then you ignore all contrary facts, like the earth revolving around the sun, like the age of the earth. You are seeing in Sarah Palin the fact that she has translated her biblical literalism into a way of attempting to deal with the real world and hence as you put it, her alternative universe. I think what is going on is that she has internalized the fundamentalist way of thinking to such a degree that she no longer has much of a grip on reality. She has taught herself to ignore reality in matters of faith and has transposed that way of thinking into her regular life.

Was this guy supposed to be considered conservative at one time? I get that idea from posts on this forum, but I’m not much familiar with him, and have seen nothing during this campaign cycle that would imply that.

You become a Christian! Millions of Americans believe exactly that. Are they all deranged because they believe their is a God?
BTW, the Bible DOES NOT say the sun goes around the Earth. This false belief arose out of a common error. People adopt an idea becuse they personally like it (in this instance, that the Earth must be the center of God’s creation), and then try to find proof for their idea in the Bible. That’s the exact opposite of the way you are supposed to read the Bible.

An f&ing fundamentalist is someone for who sexuality is the highest of essences and any offense is punishable by rhetorical rape. The open rhetorical sewage dumped on Palin by Annie and his media cohort is an indication of how their god of sexuality was offended by her refusal to abort her defective baby.
Gay marriage is sancrosanct among f*ing fundamentalists. They will come into churches and be profane to make their point.
The rhetorical f carpet bomb has been deployed in this nation to silence anyone who does not agree with this radically secular orientation.
It can work for a while. But real conservatives know that dogma can never work in managing a fallen world. In the end, it collapses. And Obama walked confidently over the wreckage. Until conservatives understand this, there will be no recovery.Theocons aren't the only conservatives.
And conservative doesn't mean anti-science, or it didn't in the past. Yet many here are trying to make it so.

Down syndrome births are more common in both women entering their reproductive years and in women leaving their reproductive years. Not sure about the exact risk between a 17 year old and a 44 year old, but they are both at greater risk of a Down birth than women in the middle.

Actually, risk increases with age. A 17 year old has less risk than any older woman. Risk vs. age:
15 to 24 years = 1/1300
25 to 29 years = 1/1100
35 years = 1/350
40 years = 1/100
45 years = 1/25
The feminist idea of postponing childbirth isn't really a very good idea.
