Why do you need a shotgun at all? All you need is good locks on your doors and a phone to call 911.

900 feet?

pretty much any gun is capable of killing someone at 900 feet. its a matter of being able to do it consistantly.

The MOST important thing to know about defending yourself in your home is to be able to hit the target quickly with multiple rounds regardless of the gun you are using. Handguns with hollow points are the best IMO for inside home defense. Shotguns have their purpose but even with an 18” barrel, the pattern does not open up sufficiently to be just a point and shoot weapon. Across a 15 foot room, 00 will open up about 8 inches. Of course, just racking the weapon may be enough to send them on their way while a hand gun may not have that fear factor.

"These include, but are not limited to, the AK-47, undoubtedly the most widely used assault rifle in the world, and U.S. military counterparts such as the M-16 and AR15."

Quit Reading right there another press idiot who cannot tell one gun from another. Like I said on another thread - tell me where I can buy assault weapons and I am all over it like 7 on 8.

While it would be one thing to say that right-wingers are up in arms (so to speak) over a potential future weapons ban, it would be incorrect to limit concerns only to them. There is considerable evidence that many from the progressive side of the political aisle are equally concerned—but for a different reason.

In their case, they fear that President Obama is literally walking around with a target on his chest. Given the assassinations of President Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr.—as well as the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan—those fears are not unfounded. Pundits may proclaim that Obama’s victory has shown the nation is leaving racism behind, but it would be naïve to think that an almost evenly divided populace would somehow be purged of violent racists through the mere outcome of an election.

The supposition is that if President Obama is assassinated, the nation would be thrown into a violent and uncontrollable cataclysm that would pit citizens against each other in a way we haven’t seen since the race riots of the ’60s ravaged Watts, Detroit, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., leaving hundreds of dead and injured in their wake and millions of dollars in damages. Given the extreme polarization of the populace during the Bush administration, such fears are certainly within the realm of possibility.

This is total bias and irresponsible journalism...Period...

To ASSume that those of us who understand and value the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, most appropriastely the Second Amendment, will in large part honor the office of the President of these United States, but we will be ever vigilant and scrutinize every move made by that elected official, and will protect that person occupying that position no matter what...That is just what we have to do...Period...

We are being setup to be the fall guys and gals on this, that it is just so surreal and almost comical to a point...The yammer-heads that lead the dunderheads that voted for this socialist are being fed this crap, and its going to hurt everyone in the country before anything has (or will) happen...

I for one (as much as I vehemently oppose the policies and sgenda of Obama) leave those differences at that...

If I hear or see any credible crud about taking someone out, I promise I will bust you from here to Christmas...We are better than this here, thats why I hang out and throw my nonsense opinions out there for others to laugh at...

Its a frustrating position for us to be in, but we will weather this storm...

Now...If I thought I could get into the next gunshow here in Houston without camping out the night before at the door...hehehe

This is just going to be priceless to even watch...

$10 for parking, $6-7 to get in the door...

Seeing the tables cleared of anything functional that goes BANG...That’s priceless...

Shotguns are great for close range personal defense, but if the fecal matter impacts the rotating blades your gonna want something that’ll reach out and touch someone.

That's pretty high. I have seen 1,000rd cases of the stuff in stores around here for as little as $350 over the last few weeks. Don't know how much is left though. If my guess is right, not much.

When I was face to face with the dem protesters in Tallahassee during the recount fiasco with algore, they kept spouting off about it being a coup d’etat etc.

When I reminded them that our side owned the guns and were friends of the military they got quiet, very quiet.
