After Taking Some Shots, She Fires Back
Washington Post ^ | November 13, 2008 | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 11/13/2008 3:19:39 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Sarah Palin is fighting back against the "jerks."

Cooking moose chili and slicing sandwiches for Matt Lauer and Greta Van Susteren, chatting up Larry King and Wolf Blitzer, the Alaska governor is denying, deflecting and denouncing the worst her unnamed critics have thrown at her. She has called them "cruel," "mean-spirited" and "immature," renounced her designer wardrobe and insisted that she is not geographically challenged.

Again. And again. And again.

"She wants to rehabilitate her image and get everyone to love her again," says Larry Persily, a former Palin aide. "If I were advising her, say it once and then stop. You protest too much. You start to look a little foolish."

But Dan Schnur, who runs the University of Southern California's Institute of Politics, says the challenge is simple: "Feed the media beast or it's going to feed on you."

No, I've not read the book, but will. Thank you for the suggestion.

But isn't a deception still not the truth? And isn't truth a conservtive core value?

I am quite familiar with both parties and all points in between using statements with deniability. Palin's statement left no room for deniability.

Was talking with my Dad last night and he had a good thought. NEITHER party wanted her to win. After they saw and learned what she had done in Alaska they were petrified about what she might mean in Washington. She would also have broken into the ranks of the political elite with an end run around the usual process. It would have been the first time in a long time that a “regular” person would have gotten into a position of that power. They didn’t like her not coming through them AND they were afraid she would tear the whole thing open.

I think she looked forward tothe opportunity.

Yes. Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.

I once believed that liberals were well meaning but wrong. After all these years I’m convinced that they are evil or stone-cold stupid. Defining BO as evil won’t work, so those of us on the correct side of history must hammer away at the idea that our President Elect is too stupid to direct traffic let alone be the leader of the free world. His devotion to Saulk Alinsky is reason enough to characterize this imbecile as... well... an imbecile.

Ridicule! Ridicule! Ridicule!

At every opportunity, relentlessly with facts and a smile, ridicule.

We must all come together to help this Marxist slug achieve his goals?

His goals are to usurp our freedom, confiscate our wealth and destroy free-market capitalism. If he wants to achieve his goals he’ll have to do over our never-ending resistance.

I think your Dad is very wise. She, altho bringing votes and attention to a pitiful campaign, scared the entrenched power elites to death. What she did in Alaska was slap the GOP silly and take the reins from their trembling hands. What in the world would happen to them should she gain power in Washington.

Just ignore joesbucks. He’s harassing pro-Palin posters, and he ALWAYS has to get the last word in.

“Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Happening on Morning Joe as we write. Mika always giggles after any clips of Palin. (Jonathan Capeheart WP, too). Andrea Mitchell with a dismissive smile, and even Joe chimes in and that’s part of it too - wanting to be ‘in’ and also not wanting to be ridiculed himself with Barnicle sitting there most of the time.

Earlier they run a clip of Palin seriously answering a question from Wolf B, and Mika comes off laughing. Then they run a ‘joke’ clip on Obama’s mother in law, and Mika’s making excuses about how hard it is with the kids, etc. Laughing at the serious and ‘explaining’ the jokes - iow, what’s happened all throughout last year in the campaign.

Those who love Palin never stopped doing so.

Amen!

Sarah won our hearts starting with her acceptance speech, and we remain faithful to her throughout the churlish nonsense the MSM and dumbs have thrown at her.

That’s not hard to parse — praise the leader and kill the staff. If she goes after McCain, the staff will come back after her. Note that McCain’s staff didn’t start defending her until Bill Kristol & others started saying how badly this reflects on McCain.

Anyway, her tactic is right: she praises McCain, so he has no choice but to praise her back (more or less), & the staff is forced to defend her.

I have no doubt that the leakers are David & Wallace.

I looked up this Persily guy and he's been the media's go-to-guy when they need a seemingly credible quote subtly disparaging Palin. Here is some of his work:

"She's very good at reading the public's discontent and pandering to it," said Larry Persily, who worked in the governor's Washington, D.C., office until resigning earlier this year.

Persily, who said he left Palin's administration because he didn't enjoy working in Washington, said Palin is skillful in "attacking the 'good ol' boys.' The good ol' boys that Palin is talking about are those that can't help her politically."

"She is definitely smitten with the national spotlight," said Larry Persily, an ex-aide. "She loves it and she is ambitious. … But in Alaska she is going to have problems."

Turns out Newsbusters did even more to check out on him. Here it is: Ex-Palin Aide Mocking Her as 'Foolish' Also Worked for Alaska Democrat

It's so obvious that the recent spate of Divide & Conquer lies, rumors and fabrications was the work of Obama operatives.

It's also sad to see how many FReepers obligingly fell into their trap by forming a circular firing squad.

“Governor Palin insists McCain is the best leader we have in the nation right now.
How could this wise governor be wrong?”

—don’t worry she will slowly transition away from him. it would look bad for her to throw him under the bus after only a week. she has much more class than he does. she is taking the high road.

The difference in Sarah's comfort level between the Couric interview and the just completed Matt Lauer interview is stunning. And watching her talk to Lauer and Greta in her kitchen while she's getting dinner ready - no ummm’s or ahhh’s or missed trains of thought. Compare this to the Messiah off teleprompter when he can't communicate a coherent thought! To say nothing of stumbling, bumbling Joe B.

It is clear that in her next national campaign, Sarah will call the shots and not have to worry if her thoughts and opinions and values might contradict those of someone else - most especially her running mate who doesn't share many of her own conservative views.

Can't wait.....

So it’s ok to not be honest when taking the high road or avoid throwing someone under the bus?

I understand that Sarah is a loyal and faithful person. McCain is neither though, and I want Sarah to talk about herself and her own stances and views, and not about McCain anymore.

To the greatest extent possible, I would like her to say that Campaign 2008 is over, she is leaving it behind, and talking about the future.
