Prop 8 Protests Against Mormons, Other Churches Gets Ugly (Gay Activists At A Mass Call Jesus A Homo
The Bulletin ^ | 11/12/2008 | Joe Murray

Posted on 11/14/2008 7:25:12 AM PST by Laissez-faire capitalist

Although a week has passed since California voters overturned that state's Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, the state has felt numerous aftershocks as gay rights activists have mounted large-scale protests directed at supporters of Prop 8, specifically the Mormon church.

... Demonstrations outside Mormon temples were reported over the weekend throughout California and more are anticipated nationwide. The Mormon church, however, is not the only Prop 8 supporter coming under criticism for its role in the controversial election, as Catholics and Evangelical churches have seen protests, as well.

An estimated 10,000 gay-rights protesters gathered in San Diego, Calif. outside Saddleback Church. The church is home to Pastor Rick Warren...

... Catholic churches were also protested Sunday, and one protest in Michigan turned ugly.

A group of about 30 gay rights activists from the group "Bash Back!" stormed into Mount Hope Church in Lansing. Mich. and unfurled a large rainbow flag at the pulpit. The group also tried to disrupt the Mass by banging on cans and shouting "Jesus was a homo."

You are correct in this of course. Gun owners and second amendment supporters should consider this carefully.

Homosexual marriages are of course not the only marriages that are shams; many heterosexual marriages are also.

Maybe Christians should refer to their marriage as a “Christian Marriage” or something similar and demonstrate to the world the difference.

It is important for us Christians to insist that a majority may not restrict rights of a minority.

The Book of Mormon does not change everything the Gospel says. It is a second witness for Christ. And trust me, I know what we believe about Christ. We believe He is the Creator of this world, operating under the direction of the Father. We believe he is one of three members of the Godhead, as I said, the Only Begotten of the Father. We believe that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are in perfect harmony, and are therefore one in the sense that Christ explained in John 17 that all members of His church are one. I don’t know where you are getting your information.

Churchs can "marry" two people of the same sex today, it's simply not recognized by civil authorities. Whis is the objective.

What is the basis of the right you assert for two males or two females to marry?

How does it differ from the right to marry multiple partners, historically far more accepted, or a close family member?

"What we don’t believe is that He is his OWN son, because we don’t believe the “three in one” stuff."

HuH? thre in one stuff? I see, so what you are really saying is mormons don't understand the trinity. (which certainly doesn't mean anything like "Jesus was his own son") The trinity is the essence of what God is, Jesus is the Son, the holy spirit is yet another entity of God.

>This keeps up, it won’t end well. Civil War 2?

A perfect storm is shaping up. We will have zer0bama sworn in without any proof he even meets the qualifications of a legal candidate, we have the homos running wild in the streets of major urban areas, we have the DEM controlled Fed Govt making bailouts to anyone with their hand out and even proposing the nationalization of automakers and oil industry, zer0bama saying he promises to bankrupt the coal industry and send electric prices through the roof, and last but not least the DemocRAT tax-cheating pornographer stealing the Senate seat in MN which will drop the last firewall the GOP has for filibuster in the Senate.

I call that a perfect CONSERVATIVE storm and we better be well prepared for the CW 2 fight that is sure to ensue.

Someone should, should they turn violent, as in Michigan. Worshippers should also be prepared to be photographed so their identity can be established.

Since PC codes are in effect and liberalism now rules the roost, any stance against these militant homosexual fascists will be stopped by the media, politicians and anyone standing. Too bad the OT God is not around anymore. Perhaps Jehovah might get angry at their arrogance, immorality and ability to shame and hurt an old woman who carries the Cross of Christ! But, in this age of NT tolerance, we sit , smile and stoically say , well, to each his own. As more cultural standards collapse in this age of Obama. My guess is that Jesus will not be that tolerant of any of our sins, sexual or others at the Last Judgement.

Go back and read some of Philly’s or is it Filly’s prior postings.

We “understand” the Trinity concept, to the extent it can be “understood.” We just don’t accept the Nicene Creed. We believe there are three personages, who are “one” in the sense that Christ explained it in John 17;21-23, when He prayed for His followers, saying, “That they may all be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one . . . .”

Not according to Christ. He's pretty adamant about that.

“They blame blacks, Latinos and churches for Prop 8 passing.”

I know they blame churches, that’s an easy target. Are they really blaming blacks and latinos now? It is true that blacks and latinos, generally speaking, tend to be much more homophobic than typical whites. But I was thinking they were pretty much left alone by the gay lobby because it’s not politically correct to criticize a minority.

The homosexual agenda is NOT to gain equal rights in marriage... it is to force the government to dis-avow religion all-together. The ultimate purpose is to eradicate religious practice... not to be part of it.

Homosexual marriage is an abomination before God. It is a public statement that God condones the behavior. It literally MOCKS an institution established by God.

At the same time, there is NO DENYING that our governmental institutions encourage this faith based institution in it's laws and regulations. FAVOR IS SHOWN for believers who wish to be married.

At the core of this impasse is an understanding of the true meaning of 'separation of Church and State'.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Laws which encourage the practice of religion do not violate the first amendment, because the religion itself is not established. Encouragement of a practice is not the establishment of religion. HOWEVER... defining something such as marriage (such as what has been done with prop 8) can arguably be said to be just that, even though the language itself is not specific to religion. Why??? because the laws which govern marriage do reference religious authorities such as pastors or priests who are AUTHORIZED or REGISTERED with the state to perform such ceremonies.

"... By the authority of God and the laws of this state I do hereby pronounce you man and wife"

What the homosexuals have is an apparent conflict in our own constitution. How can a government which guarantees the free exercise of religion also be capable of protecting it without defining or establishing it? Our republic was founded under christian principles and values and yet was vague in it's definition to grant those with differing religious views to share in the same freedom. We are either one nation UNDER God, or we are not.

The homosexuals are trying to force government to recognize that it cannot have it both ways, and that siding with religion is simply not possible because there is no way to accurately define it to everyone's satisfaction.
