Good. I wasn't home-schooled, but I graduated in 1963 (before "diversification") when teachers will still teachers and schools maintained the discipline to create an atmosphere for learning.

Back then I never heard of anyone having "ADD"...those that were thought to have it were sent to the principals office, and when they returned (or IF they returned) they were completely cured, with no drugs. Amazing.

Usually when the parents found out you had been "cured" by the Principal, they would give you a "booster shot" to make damn sure it didn't happen again.

No one ever heard of a "teachers union" back then...unless you count them "sticking together" about discipline cases a "union".

HOLD ON! HOLD ON!

Because this is an incomplete article, most FREEPERS here are seeing just trees and not the forest. And, IMHO they are not seeing how Bush's proposal illuminates how prior Congressional interference in automobile design and production has negatively impacted US auto companies in two ways.

Those ways are: 1) Previously and legislatively REQUIRING a ridiculous mileage goal that Congress basically pulled out their butt, and 2) Inserting this $25 billion dollar "incentive" (gift to the UAW) in this same previous legislation, to keep the auto companies from being competitive and producing overseas (like every other industry), and insuring that the people making those parts and autos will be UAW.

I've reviewed other sources on this, and here's what it seems to amount to: At the urging of the UAW (who wanted new plants built in the U.S. so they wouldn't be built overseas), the DEM Congress previously provided the $25 billion in loans to the auto companies for "green plants" in the U.S. THIS WAS PART OF THE LEGISLATION THAT REQUIRED C.A.F.E. MILEAGE OF 40 MPG BY 2020. This is the already provided $25 billion that Bush is talking about using for the current problem.

IMHO- What Rush, and Hannity and other conservatives should be utilizing Bush's proposal for is to point out that, in addition to UAW wages and benefits, Congressional (i.e. government) interference in "business/labor" and "business/market" relationships has greatly contributed to this current crisis. The relevant, but incomplete, part of the linked article is:

"Those loans were approved to help automakers build more fuel-efficient vehicles and become more competitive companies in the global marketplace. The administration now supports allowing the loans to be released more quickly than the original legislation prescribed and to be used for more urgent purposes as the companies struggle to stay afloat."

IMHO - the part about "...were approved to help automakers build more fuel-efficient vehicles and become more competitive companies in the global marketplace", is just Liberal SPIN. It was really all about giving something to GREEN voters, and providing the UAW with public assets so that the union could continue to compel corporations to act in the interests of the UAW.

RE : “As we watch a socialist take over the White House “

ARE YOU KIDDING? THAT ALREADY HAPPENED, BETWEEN 2000-2004. THATS WHY WE LOST TWO ELECTIONS. CHECK OUT THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS BI-PARTISON HANDY-WORK:

“The $700 billion government bailout fiasco is officially a parody of itself. David Zucker couldn’t have written it any better. It is a colossal joke – not only watching the federal government swipe taxpayer dollars to “save” the country from financial ruin in what I (and many others) knew would be a veritable showcase of disorder and incompetence, but also observing the procession of “gimmee” merchants swarming in like seagulls to get their free block of cheese. .... Hands are outstretched, and stories of impending doom are rehearsed and ready to be dealt to the Henry Paulson Distributing Co-operative.”

“What does HE have to lose?”

What would really be sweet is if he and all the rest of the cronies in DC lost their retirement benefit while bailing out banks, wallstreet, and the little 3.

I will never forget the smug giddiness Reid, Pelosi and others displayed while giving away our money. They were all giggles, smiles, and high fives behaving like toddlers in a mickey dees play pen tossing our money about as if it were their own.

Of course Bush is convinced he has nothing to lose by joining the socialists. It’s always the taxpayers who lose. This current backhanded sissy slap in the face just proves yet again HE never cared about the taxpayer much less the Constitution.

At this point, Bush is just phoning it in. He would say yes to anything that Paulson says.

You know, I actually thought he couldn’t do much more damage than he already has. I mean he’s got like 2 months left, yet somehow he’s managing to fit in all the BS he can.

Back then I never heard of anyone having "ADD"...

Not only does ADD medication make the teachers job easier, it also dulls the conscious, thinking mind. That allows "suggestion" to pass into the subconscious mind without a problem.
Scary thoughts 101 - All the school shooters were on ADD medication. We almost lost our gun rights over that.

Is there ANY giveaway plan he doesn’t support?? Good Lord!

It is not a giveaway it is a SPEED UP of EXISTING LOANS approved in Sept.

I am against everything that is being done in way of bailouts. Not one penny should be spent of taxpayer money to save any company no matter how LARGE it may be.

However a LOAN is not the same as a GIVEAWAY.

They'd grab their money and run before they'd let that happen. Let the peasants left behind eat cake.

Yes, I agree, and we know all that. I guess the comparison is socialism versus Marxism. That is what we will have with Obama, the latter. Socialism has its degrees of radicalism like everything else.

If we are going to bring bail out a car company, I would rather bail out Studebaker than Chrysler.

Studebaker made some beautiful cars.

RE :comparison is socialism versus Marxism.

When election establishment (Washington-Corporation) republicans embrace and support socialism the democrats sell this as welfare to the rich (because that’s what it is) and the public votes for democrats who sold themselves as ‘little guy socialism’, which as you say is Marxism. Again, our side gave them the keys to the takeover, no fight, with open arms, GWB legacy.

“However a LOAN is not the same as a GIVEAWAY.”

It is when later the loan remains unpaid. If the credit line of the little three were good, they wouldn’t need a govt loan. I would suggest a title pawn on their vehicles like the rest of the folks with bad credit have to do when they need some extra cash. The interest is high, but at least it’s not taxpayer subsidized.

Absolutely, without any doubt. And the real tragedy, that showed the Republicans had forgotten about Reagan, was the fact we staunch Repubs (no longer) worked hard to give Bush TWO TERMS with a CONGRESSIONAL MAJORITY in both instances, and he DID NOTHING WITH IT.....except shaft the future of the Repub party with more socialism, to say nothing of his pro-illegal, open border mentality —— he abandoned the conservative base, most likely even before 2000.

His legacy will contain a few small gold nuggets among the large, heavy rocks but his current ratings reflect the mindset of the American people about what he has done (not done) for free America and the terms of the Presidential Oath.
