>>>>Why would a public institution hire him and a good private institution hire her? I’ll bet if you dig deep enough, there’s a connection between these appointments and the Chicago Machine.<<<<<<<

Because Ayer’s father was for several decades a major business and social leader in Chicago.

All following from Wikipedia:

Thomas G. Ayers (February 16, 1915, Detroit, Michigan – June 8, 2007, Chicago, Illinois) was president (1964–1980), CEO and chairman (1973–1980) of Commonwealth Edison.[1]

Ayers served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northwestern University, the Erikson Institute, the Bank Street College of Education in New York City, the Chicago Symphony, the Chicago Community Trust, the Chicago Urban League, the Community Renewal Society, the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry, Chicago United, the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities, and Dearborn Park Corp.,[1] and served as vice president of the Chicago Board of Education.[2]

Ayers also served on the board of directors of Sears, G.D. Searle, Chicago Pacific Corp., Zenith Corp., Northwest Industries, General Dynamics Corp. of St. Louis, First National Bank of Chicago, the Chicago Cubs, and the Tribune Co.[1]

The Chicago School Reform Project is lead by Mayor Richard Daly, Jr and Bill Ayers who are good friends, as were their fathers Richard Daly, Sr (also Mayor of Chicago) and Thomas Ayers (Thomas Ayers served as an advisor to Richard Daley, Sr).
Just keping it "all in the family" of the Daley machine.

We were asked by our state senator if we would hold a coffee for him some, I don’t know, twelve or fifteen years ago

Who was this Illinois Senator that connected Ayers and Obama? If this part is true- who is this person and are they still in play?

Alice Palmer, the incumbent Obama had thrown off the ballot. Word has it she and an unnamed supporter requested Obama’s “introduction” to Chicago politics at the fundraiser held at Ayers.

True, and since when does terrorism limit itself to killing people? You can’t commit terrorist acts without killing people as the main goal? BS. Too bad they managed to wiggle through that legal loop hole.

"What really baffles me is how he landed a teaching position with the Univ of IL and how his wife teaches at NW. Why would a public institution hire him and a good private institution hire her?"

Perhaps because Ayers' and Dohrn's ideology and agenda is identical with that of the "educational" institutions who employ them.

They are creatures of the American State.

In previous writings,

"Armed struggle has come into being in the United States. It is an indication of growth that our movement has developed clandestine organizations and that we are learning how to fight.

"The development of guerrilla organization and armed activity against the state is most advanced in the Black community, where the tradition and necessity for resistance is highest. The crises of the society provide the training grounds; for Third World people the conditions of prison, the army, the streets and the most oppressive jobs produce warriors, political theorists, and active strategies.

"The Black Liberation Army - fighting for three years under ruthless attack by the state - the fighters in prisons, and recently the Symbionese Liberation Army are leading forces in the development of the armed struggle and political consciousness, respected by ourselves and other revolutionaries.

"At this early stage in the armed and clandestine struggle, our forms of combat and confrontation are few and precise. Our organized forces are small, the enemy's forces are huge. We live inside the oppressor nation, particularly suited to urban guerilla warfare. We are strategically situated in the nerve centers of the international empire, where the institutions and symbols of imperial power are concentrated. The cities will be a major battleground, for the overwhelming majority of people live in the cities, the cities are our terrain.""

Main Entry: ter·ror
Pronunciation:
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French terrour, from Latin terror, from terrour;re to frighten; akin to Greek trein to be afraid, flee, tremein to tremble — more at tremble
Date: 14th century
1: a state of intense fear
2 a: one that inspires fear : scourge b: a frightening aspect c: a cause of anxiety : worry d: an appalling person or thing ; especially : brat 3: reign of terror
4: violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands

It looks like Merriam Webster disagrees with Ayers definition of terror(ism). The Left has been avidly working for years to redefine the meaning of words to their advantage.

Obama's predecessor, Alice Palmer, the one he stabbed in the back by getting her thrown off the ballot so he could ascend, unopposed, in the heights Chicago Machine heaven, introduced him to Ayers (or at least got Ayers to throw that infamous party)...

FBI Informant Implicates Obama Associate in Murder

Any office pools on the month President Obama calls the FBI off the Dohrn case?

Even if it's not for ideological reasons Obama is like the Clintons. He's got too much baggage to allow law enforcement to do their jobs on certain people.

Imagine having these two domestic terrorists as White House officials!?!

Though they should be turned down for federal security clearances to be within 50 yards of Zer0 and/or the White House.

Though he has no convictions, Ayers has publicly admitted to his criminal activities and shown no remorse whatsoever. Dohrn the same, but she does have a criminal conviction for contempt and was rejected by the New York state bar for character issues.

Also...

"My weapons were explosive words at first, slowly replaced by bombs," he wrote.

He broke Michigan Avenue shop windows during the Weathermen's 1969 "Days of Rage." He helped LSD guru Timothy Leary break out of prison, Ayers wrote in his memoir, and stockpiled stolen dynamite. Some exploded in a New York townhouse, killing members of what came to be known as the Weather Underground, including his girlfriend of that time. Other explosives were planted in government buildings, including the Defense Department's.

"We'd already bombed the Capitol, and we'd cased the White House," Ayers wrote. "The Pentagon was leg two of the trifecta."

If anyone here really wants to invest a few days/weeks into making their blood boil and erasing any pretext to what socialism/communism really is...

I suggest you find a used copy of The Black Book Of Communism on Amazon. A new copy will cost you $75 (and good luck trying to find it at Barnes & Noble.) At the price of $20 and a disturbed soul, a used copy of this French compilation of all the crimes of the 20th century’s communist regimes will show you exactly what people like Ayres would do if they ever held power.

The fact that the U.S. aligned itself militarily with the USSR during WWII, even for defensible reasons, bothers me greatly. Our culture mostly still believes that Nazi Germany was the most evil nation in history. Undoubtedly, the Nazis were horrible. But we somehow, then and now, turn a blind eye away from the crimes of the Soviet Union. The Sovs starved, deported and killed more people during the Nazi era than Hitler did. Then, while we were being told of the Nazi’s massive crimes, China methodically killed some 50 million of its own people.

Yet, somehow today, while a neo-Nazi ideology or association rightly gets one relegated to the extreme fringes of society - being a communist is fashionable and admirable in our universities and a large part of our culture. I will never understand this.

Man - you talk about a story that has no legs!!!
Can you see the investigator assigned to this case?
Probably a janitor in Golden Gate Park nearing retirement.
with early dementia, and an alcohol problem.
