Hagel: Rush Has No Answers
Newsbusters ^ | November 18, 2008 | Mark Finkelstein

Door, meet Hagel.

That's how many Republicans are likely to react after retiring Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel blasted Republicans in general and Rush Limbaugh in particular, claiming Rush and fellow conservative talkers "don't have any answers."

David Shuster, subbing for Olbermann on tonight's Countdown, highlighted Hagel's remarks of today.

View video here.

After rolling tape of two Republican senators looking on the bright side, Shuster quoted at length from Hagel, whose name had been bandied about as a possible Obama VP pick.

SHUSTER: Not all of the GOP is so sunny about their party. Retiring Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska took some time at a forum at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies to analyze just how the Republicans ended up in their current predicament.

what a pack of lies your peddling.
rush never predicted a landslide .
savage is a nut job who needs a net not a radio show.

Hagel’s a small petulant man, he’s trying to deflect his own failures onto a talk radio host.

I don’t like the term RINO being overused but this guy is the posterchild of RINOS.

If the Republican Party gave itself an enema to cleanse the riff raff, so to speak, they would put the hose in Hagel first.

“A few months before the election he was predicting a Mccain landslide.”

After the RNC convention I too thought McCain would win in a landslide. We had momentum until “the economy panic”.

“I’ll stick to Savage Nation and others.”

I sometimes wonder if Michael Savage is the Manchurian Talk Show host. He hurts the conservative cause.

Hagel had a lot going for him. If he had been just a “maverick” and not a total traitor, he could have been the GOP nominee this year and just maybe could have won the presidency. Instead he wanted to be a warmed over Democrat.

As far as Rush having no answers, Hagel could not be more wrong. If anything Rush is about the only guy around who expresses and articulates a clear conservative vision better than anyone holding an elective office.

Joe,

You forgot the script. You’re supposed to type —

‘I’ve always been a Republican’

before you type

“Rush has been a very BIG disappointment for several years now.”

Now go away you toadie troll.

Hey Hagel. It’s not Rush’s job to fix your problems. It’s his job to point them out. Sucks to be you.

Why don't Limbaugh get off his butt and run for President when Obama's term is up?

After watching our inept, unqualified, and corrupt elected public officials and this leadership in the past 8 years, clearly he is qualified, along with most other Americans.

Of course, no doubt someone like Limbaugh would spook the leftist elite running the Republican party.

Hegel: The truth is, they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers.

Rush doesn't 'make fools', he just points them out, and you, Senator, are simply one of those fools.

And Rush has answers every day. You ought to tune in sometime. It goes something like this:

If Republicans want conservative values in the three branches of government, then the _answer_ is - don't elect RINOs.

If Republicans want to win the Presidency and gain back the majority in Congress, then the _answer_ is - run as conservatives rather than a liberals or moderates.

If a Republican Congressman wants to 'reach across the aisle' to compromise conservative principles, the _answer_ is to just _stay_ on the other side of the aisle.

And if you want to be the darling of the press, like you, McCain and others, realize that they will coddle you as long as you toe the liberal line and will drop you like a used condom as soon as you run against one of theirs.

[Old proverb - The fish rots from the head down. The lack of leadership, from the White House down, has been a huge reason why the discipline has broken down.]

I can’t disagree with that.

I listened to Savage tonight for the first time in a year. If I hadn’t known better I’d have thought I was listening to Air America with all the Bush bashing and military bashing I heard.

I used to listen daily, now I listen to a real man, Mark Levin.

Yep. I’ve been a Rush listener and wanted to believe him. Although my prediction was purely emotional, I could not accept we would elect a socialist.

I knew I would get the “Your NOT a Republican get out of here” line.

Republican or not. I’m a conservative who can think for himself. Unlike some.

Keep listening to Rush to copy his comebacks when he gets a caller he disagrees with.
