Thursday, November 20, 2008 The Pentagon has suffered from a cyber attack so alarming that it has taken the unprecedented step of banning the use of external hardware devices, such as flash drives and DVD's, FOX News has learned.

The attack came in the form of a global virus or worm that is spreading rapidly throughout a number of military networks.

Someday there will be an “Electronic 9/11” or “Electronic Pearl Harbor Day”. My guess is not yet, though.

The Pentagon would be best going with their own systems and OS software developed specifically for them.

Sounds like this virus has caused the DoD to closed down operations just short of that which a massive EMP burst would do.

That would be even more disastrous and something the dhimmicrats would suggest. The idea that government could develop anything without screwing it up..badly..is almost an impossibility.

“Sounds like this virus has caused the DoD to closed down operations just short of that which a massive EMP burst would do.”

That definitely crossed my mind, too. This whole situation

is getting scarier by the day. It seems to just speed up.

And it isn't even Jan. 20, yet. And I don't think I'm

paranoid.

In two months, the CINC himself will be a security risk. The man could not obtain a security clearance at the Pentagon. Thank the most ignorant voters in U.S. history for that very real threat to our national security.

When the top man, the man with the nuclear trigger, is untrustworthy, I have to believe we are facing a catastrophic loss of our national security - possibly all practical defense of our nation.

[Ah ok. I can understand that...We have yet to ban USB drives.]

Who knows, lol. Depends on what kindof secrets you can carry out with you, what material you have privy to.

Are you aware that millions of people have been running Windows for years with no ill effects? It’s not exactly a secret.

Actually, no you don’t. Not on this subject.

All the best, though.

No...you don’t...I do security in the DOD for a living...and you? I know a lot more about this particular event then you might think....been very busy since late last week. No operating system is without vulnerabilities. I Mac can be compromised just as easily.....

I can’t divulge what I do. But suffice it to say I am intimately familiar with major DoD technology development. (btw...its DoD not DOD..says a lot about credibility right there)

> As for the DoD I think they should switch to Linux.

Or VMS.

It’s unhackable and obscure. The US Government already uses it for highly sensitive weapons systems on airplanes and subs.

Too many people all over the world know too much about Linux for it to be a serious candidate for highly sensitive, high security application.

Also, running applications on virtual machines might provide another layer of security.
