Like father, like son. Duncan D. said his top priority is taking care of our military in the field and when they return home. Closing my eyes I thought I was listening to his dad 20 years ago.

DH looks great BTW. No talk of his political future--the times in which we live may determine that...

Maybe he should run for Governor.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this.

Duncan D has his dad's voice...baritone. They were both great!

Maybe he should run for Governor.

Isn't one of California's Senate seats up in 10? I'd rather have him in DC.

Thanks for the ping! I made sure to watch.

Several here suggested that he run for governor or Senator. I’d like to see him run for either. Just stay in politics! We desperately need men like him.

A conservative and border-control advocate can never be elected for anything higher than his present House seat—not in today’s California.

My Congressmen, and glad to have them. Only two quibbles: Neither advocates ending earmarks, and during the House banking scandal, Duncan père put his wife in front of the cameras as he “explained” why he kited checks.

"The GOP is dead in California!"

Not quite true. Common sense and old-fashioned values are dead in California, at least for 55% of the voting population.

GOPers to be successful must be telegenic and cool. That's how they will get votes from middle-of-the-roaders who are otherwise inclined Democratic.

I have many liberal friends who wouldn't vote Republican if their life depended on it yet voted for Schwarzenegger. They didn't see it as a contradiction. And remember, the original Arnold campaign from 2003 was a conservative campaign.

If you think the GOP is dead in our state, take a look at a recently announced candidate, Chuck DeVore. He's an Assemblyman from Costa Mesa and has just announced he is running against Barbara Boxer. He just might be the next Reagan. His website is easy to find and his videos are all over Youtube. For now at least, his campaign will be running on energy -- more nuclear plants in California, and drilling offshore.

I disagree. The last thing the GOP needs is to be finding some RHINO ground in order to attract middle-of-the-roaders.
If the GOP keeps pushing candidates who’ll play footsie with the middle, we’re screwed. Best thing that could happen to California is for Republicans to unite behind an anti-illegal, anti-amnesty, pro-border security, conservative candidate and clean up that state. Here’s to hoping that 2012 we can unite, conservatively, to do the same nationally.

No maybe about it, he should definitely run for Governor.

He’ll try to turn the entirety of CA into a Conservative bastion.

Great to see this ping list used. Maybe we could use this same list for his son, whenever we hear about something good.

The GOP is dead in California!

It's not dead. It is gradually merging with the socialist Democrats.
